Introducing EMK Ultra Series: Coppered solid wires for The Perfect Weld Seam

Böhler Welding is proud to introduce the EMK Ultra portfolio, our latest advancement in coppered solid wires designed for welding non- and low-alloyed steels. This innovative product range is engineered to optimize both manual and fully automatic welding processes, providing exceptional performance and efficiency. 

The newest addition to our solid wires product portfolio is finally here. The new EMK Ultra Range combines perfect arc stability with reliable wire feeding and supports you to create The Perfect Weld Seam. Especially designed for non- and low-alloyed steels, EMK Ultra is characterized by excellent welding properties and weldability.

Perfect Arc Stability 

  • Our CST technology ensures a consistently stable arc, enhancing weld seam quality and precision like never before. 

Reliable Wire Feeding 

  • Innovative copper surface technology ensures highly reliable wire feeding, preventing irregularities such as clogging and flaking. 

Versatile Packaging Options 

  • EMK Ultra is available in a range of high-performance packaging solutions, including: 
    • BASEdrum – very reliable round drums with a fill ratio of 250 kg
    • MEGAdrum – High-capacity option with a 450 kg fill ratio.
    • S200 Spools (5 kg) – Ideal for manual welding of smaller components or repair work.
    • BS 300 Wire Basket Spool (15 kg & 18 kg) – The most reliable and stable spool body with no adapter required.

Optimized Accessories for Enhanced Productivity

  • To further improve efficiency and handling, Böhler Welding offers a full range of accessories, including: 
    • Engineered lifting bars and trolleys
    • De-coiling hoods
    • "Click & Go" liners for short-distance installations
    • LD Glide liner systems and LD Feed booster systems for long-distance setups (>40 m)  

Fields of Application

Böhler EMK 4-Ultra

Typical Applications:  

Moderate Si and Mn, Good weldability for mild steel. Light construction, maintenance, repair, metal furniture, light machinery. Suited for welding before zinc and aluminum plating and for welding of zinc or aluminum plated material. The lower deoxidant content makes it better for cleaner polished surfaces and can increase more slag formation and porosity when used on rusty surfaces. It results in a higher oxygen concentration in the weld pool and depending on the combination of shield gas that can affect penetration and bead width.

Böhler EMK 6-Ultra

Typical Applications:  

Higher Si and Mn, Good weldability for mild steel. Ideal for a large range of welding applications, especially those in industries such as construction, automotive, shipbuilding and heavy machinery. The mechanical properties of this wire guarantee a good elongation. Optimized chemistry, minimize CO formation and porosity. Strictly controlled raw material, combined with advanced production technologies, BÖHLER EMK 6-Ultra guarantees excellent wire feeding characteristics and arc stability for trouble free welding and less post weld cleaning. 

Base Materials: Steel with a yield Strength <= 420 MPa.

Böhler EMK 7-Ultra

Typical Applications:

Lower Si than the Böhler EMK 6-Ultra, it presents an excellent weldability for mild steel. Ideal for a large range of welding applications, especially those in industries such as construction, automotive, shipbuilding and heavy machinery. 

The optimized chemistry yields less silicates on the weld and has good Charpy values at -50ºC. Strictly controlled raw material, combined with advanced production technologies, BÖHLER EMK 7-Ultra guarantees excellent wire feeding characteristics and arc stability for trouble free welding and less post weld cleaning.

It is mostly used for procedures where a 3Si1 wire is required, and where lower temperature and higher strength are needed. 

Base Materials: Steels with Yield Strength <= 460 MPa.

Böhler EMK 8-Ultra

Typical Applications:

Higher C, Si, Mn contents for steels up to 460Mpa, it presents an excellent weldability for mild steel. Ideal for a large range of welding applications, especially those in industries such as general construction, automotive, shipbuilding and heavy machinery.  

The optimized chemistry yields less silicates on the weld and has good Charpy values at -50ºC. Strictly controlled raw material, combined with advanced production technologies, BÖHLER EMK 8-Ultra guarantees excellent wire feeding characteristics and arc stability for trouble free welding and less post weld cleaning. 

 Base Materials: Steels with a Yield Strength <= 460 MPa.
