Power generation components require high-performance BÖHLER steels and alloys with excellent creep, fatigue, and corrosion resistance. Key quality features include ultra-clean materials, full traceability, controlled heat treatment, and rigorous testing for reliable operation.
Components used in power generation systems—whether gas, steam, or nuclear—are exposed to extreme operating conditions including high temperatures, high pressures, and long service lifetimes under continuous or cyclic loading. Material requirements are therefore exceptionally demanding, focusing on high-temperature strength, creep resistance, oxidation and corrosion resistance, and long-term microstructural stability. In nuclear applications, additional requirements such as radiation resistance and strict material purity further increase complexity. Reliable performance over extended operation cycles is critical to ensure plant safety, efficiency, and availability.
BÖHLER high-performance steels and alloys are engineered to meet these stringent demands. Advanced low-alloy and creep-resistant steels, martensitic and precipitation-hardened stainless steels, as well as nickel-based alloys, provide optimized combinations of strength, toughness, and resistance to thermal degradation. Produced using advanced melting technologies, BÖHLER materials offer superior cleanliness and homogeneous microstructures, supporting long component life under fatigue and creep conditions. Key quality features include precise chemical composition control, full traceability, and validated heat treatment processes. Comprehensive testing, including non-destructive inspection and mechanical verification, ensures compliance with industry standards. BÖHLER materials enable reliable and efficient operation across all power generation technologies.
Leggi tuttoThis specification covers a corrosion and heat resistant steel in the form of bars, wire, forgings and forging stock. It is an austenitic, precipitation hardenable, iron-nickel-chromium-molydenum-titanium steel of ESR quality. Alloying elements of aluminium and titanium allow this material to undergo precipitation hardening (ageing) through the formation of intermetallic phases. The addition of molybdenum increases the mechanical properties and resistance to creep at high temperatures. These products have been typically used for parts in power generation engineering i.e. gas turbines requiring moderate strength up to 704 °C (1300 °F) and oxidation resistance up to 816 °C (1500 °F), but their use is not limited to such applications.
