InnoTrans 2026: Innovations, digital solutions and strong impulses for railway infrastructure

Four days of innovation, intensive expert discussions and impressive live demonstrations: At InnoTrans 2026, voestalpine Railway Systems showcased integrated solutions for the railway infrastructure of tomorrow. The focus was on product innovations, digital technologies, and sustainable concepts designed to enhance the availability, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of railway infrastructure over its entire lifecycle.

End-to-End system expertise across the entire lifecycle

At its approximately 1,000 m² exhibition stand, voestalpine Railway Systems presented its comprehensive portfolio covering the entire lifecycle of railway infrastructure. Large LED walls visualized the diverse requirements of mixed traffic, freight, high-speed, metro and tram networks, providing an engaging overview of the company's broad product and service portfolio.

Among the highlights were the newly introduced crossing solutions PITSTOP and IMPACT, developed to increase availability, reduce maintenance requirements and extend turnout service life. Another key exhibit was “New Urban Track”, a new track superstructure solution for tram and urban rail applications that helps reduce rail wear through optimized load distribution while simplifying maintenance activities.

Particular attention was also drawn to a large-scale Track Panel exhibit accompanied by a measurement trolley. The exhibit demonstrated how integrated solutions combining rail, sleepers and fastening systems, together with modern measurement technology, can help extend the service life of railway infrastructure.

Digital solutions for a more reliable railway infrastructure

voestalpine Railway Systems demonstrated how data can contribute to better decision-making in railway operations through a wide range of digital applications under the zentrak umbrella, the company's digital ecosystem for asset management, diagnostics, monitoring and maintenance of both infrastructure and rolling stock.

Visitors gained insights into intelligent switch machines and innovative sleeper solutions which, in combination with advanced diagnostic systems, provide real-time visibility of infrastructure conditions and help reduce maintenance efforts.

In addition, solutions for modern signaling technology were presented, demonstrating how standardized and open architectures based on EULYNX standards can enable easier integration, more efficient operation and greater flexibility in railway systems.

High-level guests and inspiring discussions

As part of several speaker sessions, Günter Neureiter, CEO of voestalpine Railway Systems, discussed current challenges and future developments in the railway sector with distinguished industry leaders, including Dr. Thomas Hempe, Head of Operational Technology at Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main (VGF), Andreas Matthä, CEO of ÖBB, and Dr. Tobias Fischer, Head of Track and Maintenance Management at DB InfraGO.
