At the Linz site, there is a pulsating innovative energy that combines familiar procedures with fresh perspectives, thereby providing space for forward-looking ideas. Since its founding in 2020, the nbi has already generated a number of exciting success stories. Numerous projects have been initiated, developed further and successfully implemented.
From the idea to innovation
From initial sketches, new business models, ventures and solutions are developed in the nbi, which shape the future. As a central innovation unit, the nbi provides an environment in which employees can develop ideas beyond the traditional core business and bring them to market readiness, supported by mentoring, coaching and a strong network.
Open innovation
The nbi is committed to open innovation. This involves opening the innovation process to external perspectives and working closely with partners from industry and research as well as in the nbi network. In this way, ideas can be validated and developed further at an early stage.
Current focus
The nbi is currently concentrating on a topic of increasing global relevance: sustainable urban planning. The result is applications covering all aspects of steel – from new business models through to scalable solutions for the urban living spaces of tomorrow. The aim of the nbi is to improve efficiency, sustainability and circularity in the construction sector.
