It was a historic date for voestalpine when the last group of visitors left the voestalpine Stahlwelt at 4:30 p.m. on 29 June 2024. The 50 visitors were the last ones to visit Stahlwelt as we knew it up until this time.

In April 2024, after the completion of the impressive raw material conveyor bridge and the six unloading bunkers for railcars and trucks, the new raw material supply was successfully put into operation for the steelmaking plant.

TransMet, the greentec steel investment program, has enabled the Steel Division to initiate a groundbreaking development. The brand new commons and office building (Office Building 53) sets the standard for optimal working conditions and promotes a culture of cooperation.

Process analysis The government submission documents and engineering specifications have been completed, and detailed planning is in full swing!

The detailed planning of the new fully automated process lab is in full swing and includes an extension of the building, equipment and the pneumatic dispatch system. Modifications in the steelmaking plant will also require relocation of the existing pneumatic dispatch system tubes and the installation of new ones.

Closure of the gap in Conveyor Belt Bridge 2 marks the biggest highlight during completion of the new conveyor line for the raw material supply of the hybrid steelworks. "Green" steel from the greentec steel Edition was used in the construction of the gray conveyor belt bridge structure.

voestalpine Stahlwelt is being renovated

Beginning on 1 July 2024, the exhibition area of voestalpine Stahlwelt will be closed for roughly one and a half years for comprehensive renovation. The event area will continue to operate with limited restrictions, and the popular production facility tours on the plant premises in Linz will continue as before during the renovation period.

Climate cooperation with German premium automobile manufacturer

The Austrian steel and technology Group supplies high-quality steel to Mercedes-Benz AG, using scrap metal from the company. Starting in 2027, they will also deliver CO₂-reduced steel from the electric arc furnaces in Linz and Donawitz.
