Steel Division of voestalpine Group awarded for use of AI

Artificial intelligence has become firmly established in the industrial sector, and voestalpine is one step ahead in this area as well. This was recently confirmed by the consortium that benchmarks AI in Operations at the University of St. Gallen and the Technical University of Aachen.

How does voestalpine use artificial intelligence in production, and what successful practices have been established? These questions were recently posed by experts in a consortium of two renowned universities in Germany and Switzerland as part of a benchmarking project.

As part of their research, they personally visited the Steel Division of the voestalpine Group. They conducted expert interviews and were presented with concrete examples of AI applications. They also used other criteria such as management and infrastructure to determine the maturity of AI applications in production operations at voestalpine. The assessment results demonstrated the high level of excellence at voestalpine but were not entirely unexpected. After all, technology and innovation leadership have traditionally been an integral part of our philosophy at voestalpine. The award was recently presented to employees in the fields of AI and Data Science at a small ceremony held at RWTH Aachen University. Artificial intelligence has become firmly established in the industrial sector, and voestalpine is one step ahead in this area as well.
