Information on the Coronavirus Pandemic

Update, March 24, 2020

Dear Customer,

The global spread of the coronavirus has placed restrictions on our private lives and our business activities and has posed new challenges to every part of our society. In an effort to meet the new challenges as efficiently as possible, voestalpine took the necessary measures at an early stage and at every level of the company to ensure that production operations would continue without any interruption and to safeguard customer supply in these difficult times. It is of utmost importance to us that we inform our customers on a regular and timely basis how the current situation is affecting production operations at voestalpine.

You may have read a press release about the changes made for logistics reasons in our blast furnace operations in Linz. However, in spite of the challenging situation, the aforementioned measures implemented by the Steel Division ensure that our company is completely functional and our production systems are fully operational at this time. Incoming and outgoing logistics have not been affected. Our raw-material storage facilities are filled. The supply chains required for our production operations continue uninterrupted and our hard-working employees in every company department are committed to guaranteeing on-time supply in the highest quality to our customers.

We have taken extensive countermeasures, yet we are fully aware of the fast-changing situation. Of course we will inform you promptly of any new developments that would result in a significant change in our ability to supply ordered volumes on time.

We take this opportunity once again to emphasize the binding nature of existing supply agreements and ask that you kindly collaborate as promptly and proactively as reasonably possible with our sales and customer service departments with respect to your orders, however, particularly in the context of

  • already ordered quantities, coordination of concretely planned order volumes, call-off schedule adjustments and other details relevant to order processing as well as
  • any difficulties or obstacles that you may have in accepting deliveries,

so that processing problems can be prevented and minimized to the greatest extent possible.

Best regards,

Wolfgang Mitterdorfer
