Sleepers

In the Netherlands, concrete sleepers (or railroad ties) are mostly used in new and modernised track. The existing Dutch railway infrastructure still consists out of approximately 50% creosoted wooden sleepers, however, these may no longer be used. Therefore voestalpine Track Solutions Netherlands B.V. also supplies sustainable plastic sleepers.  After an expected service life of more than 40 years, the sleeper can be fully recycled. Recent measurements on bridges have shown a noise reduction of 3 to 5 dB. The high noise peak in hearing-range frequency has also been drastically reduced, and therefore noise hindrance too.
