Read MoreBÖHLER H500RB (Alloy 800, 800HT) is an austenitic, high-temperature iron-nickel-chromium alloy with good creep rupture strength at temperatures above 600°C. This material also has good resistance in oxidising, carburising and sticking atmospheres with good workability. With a nickel content of more than 30%, this material has little tendency to precipitate sigma phase. In addition to the good mechanical long-term properties, BÖHLER H500RB is resistant to oxidation and carburisation up to approx. 1000°C. In certain temperature ranges, it shows resistance to sulphurous media. The original Alloy 800 is increasingly being replaced in the market by the variants 800H and HT. These can be solution annealed and therefore have improved creep rupture properties at high temperatures. The material BÖHLER H500RB fulfils the properties of Alloy 800 as well as Alloy 800H and 800HT by controlled contents of carbon, aluminium, titanium, silicon and manganese as well as controlled sum content of Al + Ti. In the case of Alloy 800H and HT, special solution annealing significantly increases the creep rupture strength at temperatures above 600°C.

Read MoreBÖHLER N700 is a corrosion-resistant steel in the form of bars, wire and forgings in the solution-annealed condition. It is a martensitic, precipitation-hardenable chromium-nickel-copper steel with high strength and toughness. Further increases in strength can be achieved by cold forming and subsequent precipitation hardening. These products are typically used for parts that require higher corrosion resistance than the usual 13% or 17% chromium steels and high strength up to 316 °C. However, their use is not limited to such applications. Remelting processes are used to improve steel purity and homogeneity. (ESR, PESR, VAR) Certain processing methods and operating conditions can make these products susceptible to stress corrosion cracking. For applications such as bolting where stress corrosion cracking is possible, the product should be aged for at least 4 hours at the highest temperature compatible with the strength requirements, but in no case lower than 552 °C. Typical applications for reactor construction and highly stressed pump parts, springs and ship shafts.

Read MoreBÖHLER P511 is a weldable, non-magnetic, austenitic steel with resistance to seawater and intergranular corrosion. This austenitic, stainless Cr-Ni-Mn-Mo-N steel has higher corrosion resistance than Cr-Ni-Mo grades 316, 316L, 317 and 317L and approximately twice the yield strength at room temperature. In addition, BÖHLER P511 has very good mechanical properties at both high and low temperatures. Unlike many austenitic stainless steels, it does not become magnetic when cold-formed or cooled to sub-zero temperatures. Thanks to its excellent notched impact strength at -196 °C (-320 °F), BÖHLER P511 is particularly suitable for low-temperature applications. Typical applications are found in the oil and gas, chemical, fertilizer, paper, textile, food and marine industries for components requiring a combination of excellent corrosion resistance and high strength, e.g. pumps, valves and fittings, fasteners, cables, chains, ship fittings, boat and valve shafts, heat exchanger parts and springs.
Read MoreBÖHLER P513 is a weldable, non-magnetic, austenitic stainless steel with resistance to seawater and intercrystalline corrosion. It offers the best abrasion resistance of all stainless steels. The corrosion resistance of BÖHLER P513 is better than that of conventional austenitic Cr-Ni steels (type 304), and even better than Cr-Ni-Mo steel (type 316) under standard test conditions against chloride pitting, stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion. BÖHLER P513 is an alloy with a high silicon and manganese content and added nitrogen, which also works well at high temperatures around 1800 ºF. Silicon and manganese prevent wear and scuffing even in the annealed condition. Higher strengths can be achieved by cold forming, but this does not significantly improve abrasion resistance. BÖHLER P513 is used in the aerospace, food and pharmaceutical, oilfield, petrochemical, surgical and chemical industries, e.g. for valve stems and valve seats, fastening systems, shielding, chain drive systems, pins, bushings and roller bearings, wear rings and pistons in pumps.

Read MoreBÖHLER W360 ISOBLOC is a material produced by the electroslag remelting process (ESR), which has been specially adapted for use at high tool hardnesses in the range of 51-57 HRC. Although the steel can be classified as a 5% chromium steel, the increased carbon and molybdenum content coupled with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology ensures that BÖHLER W360 ISOBLOC still shows a very good toughness and an exceptionally good thermal resistance, even at high hardness levels. These properties make the steel the perfect choice for smaller components in the die casting sector (e.g., mold inserts, cores, core pins, ejector pins, etc.). The material also is frequently the preferred choice for closed-die and open-die forging tools due to its high wear resistance. Because of this excellent wear resistance and the high toughness, BÖHLER W360 ISOBLOC is also frequently used for cold work applications and as a molding material for plastic injection molds. The Steel also is available as powder material for metal-3D-printing under the brand name BÖHLER W360 AMPO.
Read MoreBÖHLER W720 VMR is not a classic hot work tool steel, but an ultra-high strength maraging steel. Compared to quenched and tempered steels, the material generates its high strength not through a hardened and tempered martensitic structure with a high carbon content and secondary hardening carbides, but through the precipitation of intermetallic phases from a tough nickel martensitic matrix. BÖHLER W720 VMR corresponds to material number 1.6358 (X2NiCoMoTi18-9-5) and has proven to be ideally suited for many tool steel applications in cold and hot work (e.g., for extrusion stems) up to 450 °C.
