voestalpine Stahl Donawitz is part of a global steel and technology group that is a leader in its business areas, with approximately 51,600 employees and around 500 group companies and locations in more than 50 countries.

We are conscious of our far‑reaching economic, environmental and social responsibility, and pursue sustainability as a guiding principle in every decision we make and every act we undertake. This extends across the product life cycle, from raw materials procurement to production and through to recycling, from training and self‑improvement to the health and diversity of our employees.

The sustainability strategy adopted by voestalpine AG in 2021 is the basis for our mindset and our actions and an essential part of the Group strategy. It is shaped, in essence, by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were developed by a UN working group in collaboration with thousands of different stakeholders before being adopted by the UN General Assembly at the World Summit on Sustainable Development held in New York on 25 September 2015. A total of 193 UN member states have committed to accomplishing the 17 goals and 169 sub‑goals for global sustainable development and specific targets. They act as a global framework for sustainable development at economic, ecological and social level and rest on the fundamental principle of involving all people. The 17 SDGs are inextricably and equally linked. Summarised in AGENDA 2030, they are designed to be worked towards over a period of 15 years.

As part of this year's EcoVadis assessment, our guidelines, measures and results in the area of sustainability were once again evaluated.

We were able to improve on the last assessment (Gold status 2022), increase our score and were awarded a platinum medal.

This result puts us in the top 1% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis in the last 12 months!

One of the main reasons for the increase in points was the further development of the existing environmental statement in the direction of a sustainability magazine.

Open communication with the help of verified data on our efforts and projects in the environmental area, as well as the addition of the "Focus on employees" section, were particularly well received in the evaluations.
