The Making of CORE — Insights into the development of our newest welding equipment

Our latest additions to the welding equipment portfolio have now been available for exactly two months. At the beginning of September, we ushered in a new era in welding technology with the launch of our CORE Welding Equipment for MMA Welding. Since then, these machines have been deployed on construction sites in Europe, the Middle East, in Africa and India—delivering perfect weld seams and supporting welders in their daily tasks.

Bringing a newly developed welding machine to market requires extensive effort from our design and development teams. Their mission: to ensure that our latest equipment not only meets the high standards of our customers but also performs flawlessly in every aspect such as product features, design and innovation. To give you a deeper understanding of our intentions behind the CORE series, we asked Mark Lowther (Vice President of Arc Equipment Portflio) to share insights into the development process and the mindset that shaped this new generation of welding machines.

Welding applications vary widely. What was the main idea behind developing CORE?

Welding applications come in all shapes and sizes—whether you're on a construction site or in a fabrication shop, there's one common theme: no compromise. That principle guided us from day one. Delivering the perfect power source for MMA welding with outstanding technology and easiest handling for the welder.

How did this mindset shape the design of CORE?

CORE was born from this philosophy. We wanted a solution that thrives in real-world conditions, delivering unmatched reliability and resilience. Every feature was crafted with the operator in mind—from intuitive handling and rugged housing to smart monitoring and automatic voltage recognition.

What makes CORE more than just another welding machine?
