Blades for Sawing Machines

Sawing machine blades cut metals, plastics, and wood using optimized tooth geometry and materials like bi‑metal steel, carbide‑tipped or full‑carbide designs. Supported by precision guides and coolant systems, they deliver accurate cuts in fabrication and industrial production.

Blades for sawing machines are precision cutting tools designed to separate metals, plastics, wood, and composite materials through controlled chip formation. Depending on the process—band sawing, circular sawing, or reciprocating sawing—blade geometry, tooth pitch, rake angle, and set pattern are optimized for material hardness and cutting speed. Blades are typically manufactured from high‑carbon steel, bi‑metal strip with HSS cutting edges, carbide‑tipped bodies, or fully tungsten‑carbide designs for high‑abrasion applications. Tooling includes tensioning systems, guides, clamping fixtures, and coolant delivery to ensure stable cutting conditions, minimize vibration, and extend blade life. Surface coatings such as TiN, TiAlN or DLC are used to reduce wear and friction. Applications span steel service centers, metal fabrication, automotive component production, woodworking, plastics processing, and recycling operations. High‑performance blades ensure dimensional accuracy, smooth cut edges, and long tool life in both high‑speed automated saws and manual machines.

  • BÖHLER S730

The cost-effectiveness of high speed steels is strongly dependent on their alloy components. Strong fluctuations in the raw materials market and resulting price variations have compelled voestalpine BÖHLER Edelstahl to rethink the basic alloy concepts of the high speed steels in our product portfolio. The result is the patented BÖHLER S730 material, which is an economical alternative to the generally applicable standard sort 1.3243 or M35 (BÖHLER S705). Despite its economic advantage, BÖHLER S730 is fully equivalent to the standard 1.3243 in terms of performance.
