Community

Community engagement is vital to the success of our business and is our long-term commitment

For us as Project team members, this Project is far more than “just” a job. Besides being employees of voestalpine, we are also shareholders and residents. We are individually accountable and collectively responsible.

Each and every one of us is committed to benefit and improve the communities where we work and live:

  • We will operate in a way that is safe for the community and our employees
  • We will engage in and honest and open dialogue and respond quickly and fully to questions
  • We will provide the community a Project update on a regular basis through a range of communications channels
  • We will strive to minimize our environmental footprint. We are committed to protecting water resources and the existing flora and fauna.
  • We will provide opportunities for local businesses to maximize the Project’s local content
  • We will maximize opportunities for local employment and training by working with government and regional educational and training institutions.

As “new locals” we strive to do the right thing for our communities and we are dedicated to sharing the benefits of our Project. Already, we are involved and support local and regional organizations such as:

  • Portland Chamber of Commerce
  • Texas A&M Corpus Christi
  • Coastal Bend Bay Foundation
  • G.I.V.E. (Gregory Independent Volunteer Establishment)
  • Surfrider Foundation
  • Skip the Plastic
