Oil & gas and CPI components require BÖHLER steels and alloys with high strength and corrosion resistance. Key quality features include ultra-clean materials, full traceability, controlled heat treatment, and rigorous testing for reliable performance.
General components in the oil & gas and Chemical Process Industry (CPI) are exposed to highly demanding operating conditions, including high pressures, temperature extremes, cyclic mechanical loads, and aggressive chemical environments such as CO₂, H₂S, chlorides, and process fluids. Material requirements are therefore exceptionally stringent, focusing on high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, resistance to stress corrosion cracking, and long-term microstructural stability. Components must maintain mechanical integrity and dimensional accuracy over extended service lifetimes to ensure operational safety and efficiency.
BÖHLER high-performance steels and alloys are specifically engineered to meet these rigorous requirements. Advanced low-alloy steels, quenched and tempered grades, as well as corrosion-resistant stainless steels including austenitic, duplex, and precipitation-hardened types, provide an optimized balance of strength, toughness, and resistance to aggressive media. For more demanding environments, high-alloy and nickel-based materials are applied. Produced using advanced melting and refining technologies, BÖHLER materials ensure exceptional cleanliness, low inclusion content, and homogeneous microstructures. Key quality features include strict control of chemical composition, certified traceability, and validated heat treatment processes. Comprehensive testing, including corrosion resistance evaluation, mechanical verification, and non-destructive inspection, ensures compliance with industry standards. BÖHLER materials enable safe, durable, and high-performance solutions across oil & gas and CPI applications.
The newly developed, patent pending, BÖHLER E185 AMPO is an AM powder, fulfilling the highest demands from various industries, ranging from motorsport to engineering components and any kind of prototype applications. This low alloyed steel with easy printability and the possibility for surface treatments (e.g. case hardening or nitriding) was developed especially for the demands of the 3D printing industry. The material shows an excellent combination of strength and toughness.
Read MoreBÖHLER N700 AMPO (17-4 PH) is a precipitation hardening nickel martensitic steel. Thanks to its alloying system, this material has excellent corrosion resistance. Can be printed very easily without additional heating of the platform or chamber and, after solution annealing and aging, hardens up to approx. 40 HRC.
