TOGETHER WE MOVE THE WORLD

voestalpine cares run

Together as a voestalpine team

After a successful start in 2023, the voestalpine cares run is entering the next round. From March 1, 2026 to May 23, 2026, our employees will not only do something for their health, they’ll also helping people in need.

We’re helping to change the world, by running, walking, hiking, wheelchair driving, or handcycling, all around the world, and collecting digital “cares” along the way. It’s not about achieving record times or going the longest distance. It’s about everyone coming together to help make a difference.

Step by step, voestalpine donations will be released for charitable purposes. That means we are all contributing to creating a sustainable and better world—not just through our products, but also by supporting international aid projects.

Herbert Eibensteiner

The voestalpine cares run is a strong sign of our social responsibility. The worldwide participation of our employees combines sporting commitment with social engagement in order to achieve the highest possible donation amount. In this way, we make a direct and sustainable contribution to supporting charitable projects.

What we have achieved

cares run

With each sporting activity, the cares circles gradually filled up. Each circle represents a donation stage and a specific donation amount. The money is distributed to selected charitable projects.

The concept

Start: March 1

The voestalpine cares run starts on March 1, 2026 and runs through to May 23, 2026.

Our goal

To get as many employees as possible to take part, to release the maximum donation.

International aid projects

The donations go to selected charitable projects.

Projects we support

Skills4Girls

Skills4Girls

In Indonesia, girls are disproportionately affected by a lack of educational and job opportunities. With its Skills4Girls program, UNICEF supports 15- to 18-year-olds by teaching them STEM, digital, entrepreneurial, and green skills. Around 1,000 young people, around 60% of whom are girls, benefit directly from voestalpine cares run; over 51,000 more are reached indirectly through school-based activities and trained teachers.

Digital Learning Center

Digital Learning Center

Many children in Ukraine do not have regular access to schooling as a result of the war. With around 50 Digital Learning Centers (DLCs), UNICEF is creating safe learning environments where children can use tablets or laptops, receive digital learning materials, and get tutoring and psychosocial support. With the voestalpine cares run, a DLC can be set up or the operation of five existing DLCs can be ensured for six months—including the provision of equipment, learning materials, and specialist staff.

Learning support & learning centers

Learning support & learning centers

Thanks to the Austrian Red Cross, children and young people throughout Austria receive needs-based learning support. At schools, Red Cross learning centers, and other locations, the focus is on ensuring basic school skills. Free learning opportunities strengthen language skills and create sustainable educational opportunities. Thanks to the contribution of the voestalpine cares run, around 400 children and young people can receive targeted support with 6,000 learning units.

Mobile clinics

Mobile clinics

In Bijapur (India), mobile clinics run by Doctors Without Borders provide basic medical care for around 24,000 patients in remote regions every year. Vaccinations, treatment for injuries and illnesses, and obstetric care enable sustainable help on the ground. Through the voestalpine cares run, around 1,160 people can receive medical support and health services in Bijapur can be improved.

MSF Academy

MSF Academy

In many crisis regions in Africa, healthcare workers have very limited training opportunities. The MSF Academy of Doctors Without Borders therefore trains local professionals, thereby strengthening medical care, particularly in the areas of nursing, obstetrics, and outpatient treatment. The voestalpine cares run enables trained midwives to assist in around 22,000 births per year.

Emergency aid packages

Emergency aid packages

The Help Points set up by Hilfswerk International offer quick and straightforward support in the regions of Ukraine affected by the war. There, people receive urgently needed food and everyday necessities, as well as psychosocial support and counseling. Dedicated children's rooms create safe places to play and learn. Thanks to the voestalpine cares run, the basic needs of over 2,500 people can be met for a month.
