That was the Linz Donau Marathon: The first cares have been collected!
- 2
Since March 1, our employees have been collecting digital cares for the “voestalpine cares run” 2025 and have already raised more than € 437,000. An important event for collecting cares this year was once again the Linz Danube Marathon, where we were represented in large numbers again this year. Through the raffle for relay starting places alone, 21 voestalpine relay teams took part. In addition, around 300 of our employees picked up our voestalpine goodie bag for participating runners.
As part of the partnership, our company provided this year’s winning trophies. voestalpine is one of the technology leaders in metallic 3D printing, in which the finest metal powder is melted and built up layer by layer into highly complex parts. Its expertise ranges from the manufacture of the metal powder to design and production. The marathon winner Techlah Chebet from Kenya, who set a new course record, and the marathon winner Simon Boch from Germany were presented with the specially designed and 3D-printed winner’s trophies. As in previous years, the other trophies were made by our apprentices at the training center in Linz.
During the marathon weekend in Linz, cares were also diligently collected for the voestalpine cares run, the exercise initiative for all Group employees. By running, walking, hiking, hand biking, and wheelchair driving, digital points – so-called “cares” – are collected, which are converted into donations. On Sunday, the collection was not just in Linz, but worldwide, so that on April 13, over 12,000 cares worth more than EUR 5,000 were activated for the good cause. Since the beginning of March, more than €400,000 has already been unlocked and by the end of the cares run on May 23 at the latest, €700,000 will have been raised to support international aid projects.
