Since last year, he has been in charge of the three areas and ensures that completely assembled turnout systems are created from individual components before they are transported to their place of use on inclined wagons. This is precisely his contribution to making rail networks around the world even more efficient and competitive.

Production manager for switch systems worldwide

Florian joined us last year as Production Manager immediately after completing his trainee program and ensures that the production of all mechanical components and the assembly of turnouts is “on track”. Together with his foremen, he is responsible for the production of turnout systems for the highest speeds, highest axle loads, highest train frequencies or complex, individual solutions for use all over the world – for mixed traffic, local traffic, freight traffic and high-speed turnouts.

Complete systems for rail traffic

We can offer our rail customers fully assembled complete turnout systems including sensors, drive and locking technology from a single source, assemble them and even have them tested in-house. Thanks to our many years of experience, this expertise is mature and unique, which is also appreciated by many international customers. They see the outstanding quality for themselves at the factory in Zeltweg and carry out the product acceptance test here before the systems are dismantled, shipped as individual components and assembled on site. Florian ensures all of this.

From mechanical engineering studies to switch technology

Florian decided to study mechanical engineering in Leoben – a versatile course with broad career prospects. Florian became aware of us at a #voestalpinetalk at the university – shortly afterwards he started the trainee program. During the course of the program, he learned just how interesting and fascinating rail infrastructure is, especially turnout technology. Today, as production manager, Florian ensures that the foremen in his areas have everything they need to organize their production in the best possible way. On the one hand, this concerns personnel issues such as shift planning or further training, but also resources such as systems, machines or equipment.

It also involves interdisciplinary coordination, for example with logistics or design, and ensuring and further developing safety and quality standards. His daily routine includes informal morning coordination with the production manager for component production and

I find it very pleasant and one of the greatest added values of my job that there is always a lot to do and a wide variety of topics to deal with. I find this variety extremely pleasant."

Solution-oriented, communicative and always on the move

It is particularly important to him that he fulfills the role of mediator and moderator well. What also sets him apart is his strong focus on solutions. He is less fond of standing still and “waiting and seeing”. He likes to take the helm, because time is precious and valuable to him. The most important thing for him is respect and appreciation. This is exactly what you earn through active cooperation and interest in the other person’s issues.

I was taught from an early age - and that's why it's a matter of course for me - that I treat every person I meet anywhere in my everyday life with respect and appreciation."

Florian's professional #FavoriteMoments

#FavoriteMoments are those in which an idea is tried out even without certainty of a solution – moments in which vague ideas are trusted and everyone works on them with great commitment. Moments when everyone sticks together and the task is accomplished together. Last summer, during the peak vacation and construction site season, he experienced just such a situation as a production manager: with great commitment from employees, flexible transport solutions and many, sometimes creative, accompanying measures, the numerous track construction sites were delivered on time, even during the vacation period. What seemed impossible then became possible together!

His favourite private moments

Professionally trained, he also strives to communicate in a very positive and appreciative manner in his private life. He trains ambitiously in triathlon, competes in several events every year and works towards this every day. A coach develops a tailored training plan for him, which he is always able to integrate into his daily routine despite his busy professional life. Triathlons have been part of his life since his studies – a passion he shares with his partner. The biggest long-distance triathlon in the world in Roth, Bavaria is scheduled for July 2025 The two will then use the event for a vacation.
