Career Days 2022

2 June 2022 |

At the event center in Krieglach, everything recently revolved around the topic of apprenticeships. Around 600 visitors learned about 45 regional companies and exciting apprenticeship careers.

As a hub for companies, schools, parents and young people, the "Career Day Apprenticeship" was initiated by the Regional Management Upper Styria East with the participation of all regional partners.

As part of the kick-off event, the Parents' Information Evening, the parents of the students were given comprehensive information about career opportunities and possible apprenticeships in the region.

The HR managers of voestalpine Wire Austria GmbH, voestalpine Tubulars GmbH & Co KG and voestalpine Böhler Welding Austria GmbH, together with apprentices from the three companies, answered numerous questions about job and career opportunities at voestalpine.

"This was a great new experience for me, too! I was able to meet new people and the students showed interest in an apprenticeship in our company. The fact that we shared personal professional insights with them went down well, in my opinion."

On the second day of the career fair, it was the turn of around 600 8th and 9th grade students from secondary schools from Leoben to Mürzzuschlag and polytechnic courses. They were able to find out about all the apprenticeship opportunities in various sectors. On behalf of voestalpine Metal Engineering Division, Christian Saiger, voestalpine Wire Rod Austria GmbH, Sonja Zmek, voestalpine Tubulars GmbH & Co KG, as well as apprentices Nadja Hemmer (3rd year machining technology apprentice, voestalpine Stahl Donawitz GmbH) and Tim Wünsche (1st year mechanical engineering apprentice, voestalpine Stahl Donawitz GmbH) were on hand to answer questions from the many interested visitors to the voestalpine trade fair stand.

The "voestalpine raffle" also went down well.

. The students were particularly eager to work out the raffle questions. "With our raffle, we were really able to draw the attention of many young people to our stand," said Lea Zöchling. Exciting conversations were held, contacts were exchanged and the young people gained insights into the professional worlds of voestalpine.

I thought that for the young people our voestalpine quiz was firstly a great idea and secondly also very sustainable. In order to be able to answer these questions, the young people have to find out about our company and our training opportunities at our stand, or look at our folders. That was the big difference to other companies that didn't have such an option. I was even able to pass on our contact details to seven young people because they were keen to apply for a job with us. Events like this are also very important for us as voestalpine in the future to be able to present our company and our apprenticeship training to the public."

The next "Apprenticeship Career Day" has already been scheduled - it will take place in Leoben in the fall of 2022!
