Duplex-TIGRAL®

Duplex-TIGRAL® — Extreme Protection for your Aluminum High Pressure Die Casting Tools

Duplex-TIGRAL® is a premium PVD coating developed by eifeler to deliver exceptional performance in high-temperature, high-wear environments. Designed with a two-stage process—beginning with a specially engineered plasma nitriding layer followed by a mono-layered AlCrTiN matrix—Duplex-TIGRAL® combines advanced abrasion resistance with excellent thermal and chemical stability.

This coating was created to match and often exceed the performance of traditional high-temperature surface treatments such as Thermoreactive Diffusion and CVD, but with significantly fewer drawbacks. Its lower application temperature (<450 °C) preserves the dimensional and metallurgical integrity of the base steel, enabling fast tool turnaround and consistent quality. It can also be stripped and recoated multiple times without damaging the substrate, maximizing tool investment.

Duplex-TIGRAL® excels in applications where extreme mechanical, thermal, and corrosive loads are present—such as high-pressure aluminum die casting and hot forging. Its high hardness, low friction, and resistance to adhesive wear minimize tool degradation from alloying reactions and reduce the risk of part sticking. As a result, manufacturers benefit from improved cycle stability, reduced downtime, and longer tool life.

Key Benefits:

• Outstanding adhesive and erosion wear resistance

• High oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures

• Protection against alloying and chemical attack

• Stable performance under thermal shock and cyclic stress

• Enhanced tool reusability and coating longevity

Duplex-TIGRAL® is the smart choice for die casting and other hot work applications where durability, reliability, and productivity matter most.
