Il nostro quadro di riferimento per la sostenibilità inSPire è destinato a durare
Ogni trasformazione ha bisogno di una visione. Per tradurre la visione in azione, sono indispensabili una strategia specifica e obiettivi che guidino le operazioni quotidiane.
I nostri obiettivi sono chiari: cerchiamo di dare un contributo determinante nelle aree dell’economia circolare e dell’impatto climatico. Per questo motivo abbiamo sviluppato un nostro quadro di sostenibilità che delinea i nostri quattro obiettivi prioritari e le rispettive azioni di sostenibilità, rispettando in questo modo tutti i pilastri della sostenibilità.

Nell’ambito della nostra strategia di sostenibilità, ci concentriamo su quattro diversi pilastri di contenuto, collegati a specifici campi d’azione. Questi ultimi includono iniziative e obiettivi specifici, che ci guidano nelle nostre operazioni quotidiane.

Economia circolare
Per realizzare prodotti ad alte prestazioni, dipendiamo da materiali pregiati. Il nostro obiettivo è ridurre la necessità di materie prime e aumentare l’uso di risorse riciclate.
Impatto sul clima
voestalpine mira a diventare neutrale dal punto di vista climatico entro il 2050. Per raggiungere questo obiettivo, ci concentriamo su una maggiore decarbonizzazione, sull’energia rinnovabile e sull’efficienza energetica.
Approvvigionamento sostenibile
Operando su scala globale, abbiamo un considerevole impatto nelle catene di approvvigionamento a monte e a valle.

Decarbonization: Reducing greenhouse gas emissions for a positive effect on the environment
Significantly reducing our emissions is one of the High Performance Metals (HPM) Division’s explicit goals. Reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions is therefore a key area of action under the Climate Impact pillar of our inSPire sustainability framework. And a wide range of measures are bringing us closer to that goal: ambitious decarbonization roadmaps and real-world projects for greater energy efficiency, less natural gas, and an increased use of renewable energies.

Alternative raw material sources: The potential of batteries
In addition to steel scrap, alloy elements such as nickel, cobalt, manganese, and other alloys are essential components of our products. However, various global developments are affecting the availability of these critical raw materials. Within our sustainability framework inSPire, the High Performance Metals Division is looking for long-term ways to keep these valuable elements in the product cycle, for example by recycling grinding sludge or batteries in order to be able to meet demand in the long term.

Recycling of by-products: “Waste” with added value
Scale, dust, and slag can be used as secondary sources of raw materials—by-products that have traditionally been seen as waste often contain valuable resources. At HPM, we have long been committed to recycling the by-products from our production sites and reintegrating them into the value chain.
