Thomas: Stable & secure

28 March 2023 |

"voestalpine is a big company, so you shouldn't be put off by that. The areas of responsibility are varied, and expert opinions are valued and respected. What's great is that even as a manager, I feel part of my team. group-IT also offers secure jobs in a stable company."

As Department Lead Solution Architect in the TMD - IOT & Data Management department, I have now been working at group-IT since November 2018. I did an apprenticeship as an electromechanical and mechanical engineer and then started studying computer science. Then I worked in various IT-related areas such as software development before finally switching to group-IT. I became aware of voestalpine through a personnel consultancy. I then decided on group-IT because I wanted a secure job in a stable company with many different areas of responsibility.

Right at the beginning, I was involved in a group-wide security project. This allowed me to quickly get to know the entire structure and the Group. I find it particularly exciting that I am now responsible for cloud use in the Group. What I appreciate about my colleagues and my team is their openness, their high level of expertise and the respectful way they treat each other. Criticism is also expressed openly and constructively. As a team, tasks are completed together, taking into account different opinions and points of view. I like finding solutions and it's nice to see how they are positively received by the Group and the customers and really help.

The canteen, flexible working hours and employee participation are also great, as are the opportunities for further training. I've already taken part in four congresses and received further training internally, both technically and on other topics such as recruiting. I have also been able to develop in practice, especially with projects that go beyond the team and Group boundaries.
