We’re digging tunnels for greentec steel
The microtunnel supplying power to the new electric arc furnace at the Linz site has been completed. This brings us one step closer to our goal—even underground—of transforming steel production as part of greentec steel.

A kilometer-long pneumatic tube system has been supporting us at our Linz site for more than three decades. It connects the production facilities of our greentec steel Edition with the central testing laboratory. This is how we ensure the quality of our most sustainable steel edition.

Green, gigantic, greentec steel in Linz
With greentec steel, we are laying the groundwork for a new, low-carbon steel production process at our Linz site and are building and expanding the necessary infrastructure. While operations continue, work is currently underway on more than 20 individual projects simultaneously—a feat of engineering unique in Europe.
