Globally connected, locally active: Purchasing Manager Ulrich on his #FavoriteMoments
- 2
Ulrich studied International Logistics Management and deepened his Spanish skills during a semester abroad in Mexico.
Afterward, his career continued on an international path: In our Europe-wide management trainee program, he carried out projects at a different location every six months—specifically in the Netherlands, Spain, as well as in Styria and Upper Austria. Subsequently, his path led him through various positions in the Metal Forming Division to Dettingen (DE), Krems (AT), and finally to Linz. There, as part of the “Purchasing Committee,” he collaborates with representatives from all divisions to shape group-wide procurement strategies and ensures that decisions made within his area of responsibility are successfully implemented.
Thanks to his professional development within the company, Ulrich has an excellent network and sees himself as a team player who communicates on an equal footing with his procurement colleagues in the metal forming companies—especially when different perspectives clash.
With a clear eye on the data, he regularly analyzes the division’s procurement metrics and works systematically to identify and develop synergies and potential for collaboration among local companies.
Instead of focusing on difficulties, he consistently directs his attention toward how projects can succeed and challenges can be overcome in a solution-oriented manner. He views his openness to change not only as the key to his own success but also to collective success.
Ulrich experiences his personal #FavoriteMoments outdoors in nature—whether he’s running, hiking, biking, ski touring, or traveling. He doesn’t particularly like having music in his ears while doing these activities; for Ulli, listening to the sounds of nature is more enjoyable. He plans his outdoor adventures with sustainability in mind—for the past three years, he’s traveled exclusively by public transportation in Austria using a “Klimaticket” and has had excellent experiences with it. He particularly enjoys taking a look at voestalpine’s “Green Line” at the end of long-distance platform 8 at Linz Central Station.
In our new brand and image campaign #FavoriteMoments, we show our contribution to a modern, sustainable life from the perspective of people. We focus on their individual favorite moments and the commitment of our employees that makes such moments possible. The specially composed song “All these moments” accompanies the campaign and musically conveys our values, courage, community and our joy for the future and is authentically accompanied by pictures of our employees.
