After about six years at our warehouse specialist, voestalpine Krems Finaltechnik, Wolfgang became a foreman and then switched careers. But Wolfgang came back to us because he preferred to work in the trade he’d trained for: welding. He’s been part of our team for nearly 18 years now.
He is currently also the assistant shift supervisor. In this role, he assigns employees to upcoming work orders in an orderly manner and according to their qualifications. At the same time, he serves as the liaison between the planning teams and work preparation.
There’s one project Wolfgang particularly loves to talk about: he and his colleagues welded the “Grid” for the new exhibition at the voestalpine Stahlwelt. The challenge: under time pressure, they had to weld an immense steel network—so perfectly that it looked as if it were cast from a single piece. Neither weld seams nor grinding marks were allowed to be visible. This was completely uncharted territory for Wolfgang and his team. Because everyone pitched in, they were able to execute the Grid perfectly. Experiences like this are exactly what count as Wolfgang’s #FavoriteMoments!
