voestalpine Krems Finaltechnik implements new high-bay warehouse for NÖM

The state-of-the-art high-bay warehouse systems from the Metal Forming Division of the voestalpine Group, manufactured from the most sophisticated steel profiles, are in demand worldwide. But it’s not just internationally that people rely on voestalpine’s expertise: in Austria, too, this know-how is regularly put to use in complex logistics projects. Among the most recent examples is the new, fully automated high-bay warehouse for NÖM AG in Baden, which was built by voestalpine Krems Finaltechnik.

A high-performance logistics hub

Between October 2025 and March 2026, a silo-style storage system approximately 30 meters high was constructed, which will serve as the shipping warehouse and form the logistical center of the NÖM site in the future. The dimensions are impressive:

  • Over 26,600 storage locations
  • Double-depth, staggered-height storage
  • 86 meters long and 60 meters wide

State-of-the-art standards and customized logistics expertise

With the new high-bay warehouse, voestalpine is once again setting the latest standards in fully automated warehouse technology. Among the special features is a cooling unit platform integrated at a height of 25 meters, supplemented by an additional platform for the electric monorail. This combination enables maximum use of space and creates optimal conditions for fully automated logistics processes.

Implementing the project involved demanding conditions—including working in challenging weather conditions as well as complex construction and assembly processes. Thanks to careful planning and precise coordination, these challenges were successfully overcome.

The new high-bay warehouse is yet another example of how high-tech solutions from Lower Austria make a significant contribution to a future-oriented business location. The combination of technological expertise, regional cooperation, and customized planning demonstrates how modern logistics projects can be implemented sustainably.
