GeoTHERM

GeoTHERM took place from February 26 to 27, 2026, in Offenburg and once again impressively confirmed its role as Europe’s leading trade fair in the field of geothermal energy. The focus was on our VAsuperior® and VAroughneck® Proprietary Connections, which, thanks to their product properties, are ideally suited for Geothermal Applications.

    EGYPES

Our participation at EGYPS, held from March 30 to April 2, 2026, in Cairo, focused on innovation and transformation in the energy sector across Africa and the Mediterranean region. In addition to our proven premium products such as VAsuperior®, DryTec®, and VAxplorer®, we also presented our latest Proprietary Connection: VAtitan®‑SF, which, with its semi‑flush technology, supports the oil and gas industry in accessing energy and raw material resources even more efficiently.

On the one hand, numerous visitors took the opportunity to learn about our solutions firsthand; on the other, we were able to further deepen the intensive exchange with existing partners and jointly discuss concrete application cases.

      TUBE 2026

The trade fair days at TUBE 2026 were characterized by strong interest in voestalpine Tubulars products, intensive exchanges on an equal footing, and numerous reunions with long-standing customers and partners—many of whom have developed personal relationships over the years. As the world’s leading trade fair for the tube industry and a permanent fixture in the exhibition calendar for more than two decades, the TUBE 2026 provides the ideal platform for discussions away from the daily business routine and for initiating new collaborations.

The impressive product exhibition area reflected the full breadth of the portfolio—from seamless round tubes for Industrial Applications to solutions for Oil & Gas and sustainable energy, as well as the VTS® edgeTubes, which continue to attract significant attention. Innovative hydrogen storage solutions were also in focus, making an important contribution to the energy transition and prompting numerous in-depth technical discussions.

        NASCC: The Steel Conference

This year’s NASCC Steel Conference in Atlanta provided an excellent platform for professional exchange among experts, engineers, and leading representatives of the industry. The focus was on the design and construction of steel structures and bridges, as well as on innovative developments and new solutions in Steel constructions—featuring, among others, our VTS®-edgeTubes.

Our seamless square and rectangular Hollow Sections impressed with their precise corner radius, clearly defined design of outside corner, and high-quality surface finish. In particular, the seamless design and the product characteristics visible at first glance generated strong interest and enthusiasm among visitors.

          DGMK-Conference

This year, the DGMK conference was held in Münster for the first time and will return to Papenburg in 2027 before taking place again at its traditional location in Celle in 2028. The focus was on our hydrogen‑tight premium connection VAhyper®, which has already proven itself successfully in several underground storage projects.

          Award win as a highlight

A special highlight was the DGMK Poster Award 2026, which was presented to our research collaboration with Uniper and Isodetect GmbH for the project “HyStorage: Microbial activity during underground hydrogen storage in a porous rock reservoir.

As part of this project, we presented a specially developed sample carrier, which was also exhibited and attracted considerable interest among participants.

          Background information on the project:

          • As part of the HyStorage program with Uniper, the Bierwang project investigates the suitability of materials for hydrogen storage in a former natural gas field.
          • Since 2022, underground tests have been carried out at a depth of 1,350 meters under conditions of approximately 100 bar and hydrogen concentrations of 5–20%.
          • Using specially developed sample carriers with CLT and loading specimens, a total of five installation tests have been successfully completed.
          • The results show no material failure and no significant material changes at the tested hydrogen concentrations.

The DGMK conference is a key meeting point for us—bringing together the core of the industry every year. It is always a pleasure to engage in personal exchange, deepen existing relationships, and gain new impulses from a wide range of exciting topics.
