Long Day of Energy 2026 – A look behind the scenes of the energy management
On June 20, 2026, we warmly welcomed all participants at our site and kicked off the program right away. It began in the conference room, where we not only introduced the company but also shared our perspective on energy – both today and in the future. The presentation provided valuable insights into our core business activities and to address open questions. Shortly after, the next highlight was already on the agenda: the tour through our energy facilities.
The tour began at the company’s own hydropower plant located directly on site on the River Mürz. Another plant is situated in nearby Mürzhofen. Standing right in front of the turbine and hearing the powerful roar of the water often conveys more than any presentation – and this was once again clearly felt this year.
The group then moved on to one of our photovoltaic systems. As in previous years, our plant fire brigade supported us with transportation across the site. Upon arrival at the building, it was time to climb the stairs – all the way up to the rooftop. From the top, participants were rewarded with a view across the entire site – and at the same time, a deep dive into the topic of renewable energy. It became clear just how diversified our energy supply has become. With an annual electricity generation of around 7.34 GWh, it’s also evident just how much space the PV modules cover on the factory roofs.
I already started working here back in 1958 at the age of 18 – and so much has changed since then. It was all the more rewarding to see the plant again from the inside and experience how it has continued to develop.
For years, I had only ever driven past the plant – which made it all the more exciting to finally take a look behind the scenes. Truly impressive.

We continued to the next stop before the plant tour - the district heating chimney, that was built in cooperation with Bioenergie. Waste heat that would otherwise be lost is usefully harnessed to supply heat to neighborhoods in Kindberg. The system is fed by waste heat from our rotary hearth furnace, which is captured and efficiently reused.
The tour concluded with an additional tour of the seamless pipe rolling mill. Here, visitors could suddenly experience energy in the context of our production process firsthand. For many visitors, this was a special highlight that brought the big picture all together. It’s always wonderful for us, too, to see just how impressive our plant is to visitors.
What remains is more than just a tour of the plant: it is the impressions, the conversations, and the feeling of having gained a deeper understanding of a company - one you may have seen from the outside many times before.
A big thank you to all our visitors for their interest – and to all colleagues who made this day possible. With that, an intensive, exciting and thoroughly successful “Long Day of Energy 2026” came to an end.
