Long Day of Energy 2025 - Deep insights into the energy supply of voestalpine Tubulars

1 July 2025 |

On June 28, 2025, we invited everyone to the Long Day of Energy at our Kindberg production site. We opened our doors to interested visitors and offered a varied program. With informative presentations on the topic of energy, combined with a plant tour of our hydropower plant, the photovoltaic system on the roof and the district heating chimney, we gave our guests fascinating insights into the current and future energy supply of voestalpine Tubulars.

Facts and figures about the company

After arriving at 9:00 a.m. at the main porter's office, the interested participants were taken to the conference room by our company fire department. A comprehensive presentation about the company awaited them there - with a particular focus on the energy supply at the site.

The visitors consistently asked interested questions about our company and our sustainability measures.

It was great to see that, despite the intensive presentation, everyone remained attentive and showed a keen interest with their questions.

More on sustainability

You can tell that the company is very concerned about the environment, even in “smaller” projects that you don't even notice as an outsider. It was a really great and informative event,

said one visitor.

From theory to practice - off to the energy companies

After the presentation and the Q&A session, we went out to the energy plants after a brief refreshment. We started with our own hydropower plant, which is located directly on the River Mürz. Another one is located in Mürzhofen. The visitors were allowed to enter the power plant and marvel at the turbine up close.

Afterwards, our company fire department once again ensured smooth transportation to the photovoltaic system on the roof of the hall. After a short climb up to the fourth floor, there was not only a direct view of the PV modules, but also an impressive view over the entire facility. Our Team provided the relevant background information.

We continued on foot to the last stop - the district heating chimney.

We stopped right next to the pre-materials warehouse to take a look at the impressive chimney. This was built in cooperation with Bioenergie and partially supplies the town of Kindberg with district heating.

The basis for this is the waste heat from our rotary hearth furnace, which is extracted and used efficiently.

Finally, the guests were given an exciting insight into water management at the site.

After this interesting tour, the company fire department took us back to the conference room, where a small refreshment was already waiting. There was still time for further questions and discussions in a relaxed atmosphere.

A really great event. The exciting facts about energy in combination with the tour were really great. A big thank you to voestalpine Tubulars for these insights,

one visitor sums up.

Thank you for your visit!

We would like to thank all visitors for their interest and all colleagues for their commitment.
