Toute transformation nécessite une vision. Pour concrétiser cette vision, il est indispensable de disposer d’une stratégie et d’objectifs spécifiques pour piloter les opérations quotidiennes.
Nos objectifs sont clairs, nous cherchons à apporter des contributions considérables dans les domaines de l’économie circulaire et de l’impact climatique. C’est pourquoi nous avons élaboré notre propre cadre de durabilité, qui décrit nos quatre thèmes principaux et nos actions respectives en matière de durabilité, tout en abordant tous les piliers de la durabilité.

En fabriquant des produits de haute performance, nous sommes dépendants de matériaux précieux. Nous visons à réduire le besoin de matériaux primaires et à augmenter l’utilisation de ressources recyclées.
Impact sur le climat
voestalpine vise à atteindre la neutralité climatique d’ici 2050. Pour atteindre cet objectif, nous nous concentrons sur une décarbonisation accrue, des énergies vertes et des efforts d’efficacité énergétique.
Approvisionnement durable
Opérant à l’échelle mondiale, nous avons un impact majeur sur les chaînes d’approvisionnement en amont et en aval.

Decarbonization: Reducing greenhouse gas emissions for a positive effect on the environment
Significantly reducing our emissions is one of the High Performance Metals (HPM) Division’s explicit goals. Reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions is therefore a key area of action under the Climate Impact pillar of our inSPire sustainability framework. And a wide range of measures are bringing us closer to that goal: ambitious decarbonization roadmaps and real-world projects for greater energy efficiency, less natural gas, and an increased use of renewable energies.

Alternative raw material sources: The potential of batteries
In addition to steel scrap, alloy elements such as nickel, cobalt, manganese, and other alloys are essential components of our products. However, various global developments are affecting the availability of these critical raw materials. Within our sustainability framework inSPire, the High Performance Metals Division is looking for long-term ways to keep these valuable elements in the product cycle, for example by recycling grinding sludge or batteries in order to be able to meet demand in the long term.

Recycling of by-products: “Waste” with added value
Scale, dust, and slag can be used as secondary sources of raw materials—by-products that have traditionally been seen as waste often contain valuable resources. At HPM, we have long been committed to recycling the by-products from our production sites and reintegrating them into the value chain.
