AM Inserts for Cylindrical Containers

Cylindrical containers are widely used in a range of packaging solutions and are common for medical applications (tablets etc).  The adoption of additive manufacturing (metal 3D printing) has proven to be successful in reducing both cycle times and scrap rates, resulting in a cost effective solution when re-fitting multi-cavity tools.  Additive manufacturing can be used to optimize the mold cores, cavities, gates and neck inserts as needed.

Benefits of AM Inserts

  • Improved cycle times – one recent case study resulted in a -26 % cycle time reduction compared to conventional drilled channels and fountain cooling.
  • Improved part tolerances – conformal cooling solutions result in a uniform surface temperature across the surface of the insert, resulting in reduced part deformation and lower scrap rates.
  • Reduced risk of leakage – the ability to print a “single-piece” design minimizes the risk of leakage and corrosion between the core insert and internal cooling baffles.
  • Improved polishability – our AM print materials very low levels of porosity allowing our inserts to achieve the highest levels of polishability (SPI Gr A-1).

Product Material

  • Polypropylene (PP)
