AM Inserts for Blister Packs

Blister packs come in a wide range of shapes and sizes depending on the consumer application (tablets, contact lenses etc).  When combined with the right application (contact lenses packaging) the adoption of additive manufacturing (metal 3D printing) has proven to be successful in reducing both the cycle times and scrap rates associated with molding these parts.  The benefits of AM are particularly evident if the conventional mold is made less durable alloys such as Aluminum.

Benefits of AM Inserts

  • Improved cycle time – one recent customer case study resulted in a -30 % cycle time reduction compared to conventional drilled channel cooling.
  • Improved tool life – the ability to print wear resistant tool steels means traditional Beryllium Copper alloys can be replaced resulting in improved tool life and a lower cost per produced part.
  • Improved part tolerances – conformal cooling solutions result in a uniform surface temperature across the surface of the insert, resulting in reduced part deformation and lower scrap rates.
  • Improved polishability – our AM print materials very low levels of porosity allowing our inserts to achieve the highest levels of polishability (SPI Gr A-1).

Product Material

  • Polypropylene (PP)
