Occupational physician Pippa: #FavoriteMoments in health
- 3
Before joining us, Pippa worked as a general practitioner in a hospital in Linz and had little contact with occupational medicine. Now she loves this comprehensive, interdisciplinary field of work, where she can do so much to promote the health of employees.
Each member of the medical team is responsible for specific group companies at the site. As an occupational physician, Pippa advises department heads, safety experts, and works council members on topics such as how to ergonomically equip workplaces or how to regulate breaks for “cooling down” in hot workplaces. Her daily work includes visiting individual workplaces, discussing legal regulations and her recommendations, and conducting medical examinations. Pippa determines whether individual employees are fit enough for a workplace, e.g., at great heights, in hot conditions, or when traveling. She also regularly documents the legal limits for harmful substances in employees’ bodies and provides support when a change of workplace is advisable for employees’ health.
Pippa developed her enjoyment of working with people while working in her parents’ practice. In addition to specialist knowledge, her role as a manager and occupational physician requires patience, perseverance, diplomacy, and a willingness to compromise. Pippa is also responsible for the strategic direction and further development of occupational medicine, for ongoing communication with the company medical management, and for the further training of her employees. She particularly appreciates this diversity in her job.
In addition to her management duties and occupational health consulting, she also works in the factory clinic. There, employees at the site are treated for acute and chronic illnesses – around the clock. The clinic has recently been modernized and offers top-level, state-of-the-art medical care, including physiotherapy, cell baths, and group therapy rooms. In addition to the central factory infirmary, employees also have access to two branch offices in the coking plant and steelworks.
In her team and in her dealings with patients, Pippa values mutual respect, flexibility, friendliness, helpfulness, and reliability. She experiences special moments in her daily encounters with people on an equal footing and when she can help people through her work, both at work and in her private life. In her private life, she enjoys being on the go—hiking with her family, traveling, or immersing herself in one of the foreign languages she has learned—English, Spanish, and Russian.
In our new brand and image campaign #FavoriteMoments, we show our contribution to a modern, sustainable life from the perspective of people. We focus on their individual favorite moments and the commitment of our employees that makes such moments possible. The specially composed song “All these moments” accompanies the campaign and musically conveys our values, courage, community and our joy for the future and is authentically accompanied by pictures of our employees.
