Certified top quality: #FavoriteMoments by Michaela

Audits and compliance with standards are much more than bureaucratic obligations. They create trust. Everyone can rest assured that our steel products are flawless and safe for use in, for example, the automotive industry, the railway sector, aviation, toolmaking, and mechanical engineering—and that they are manufactured sustainably and responsibly. Standards are a clear promise—for reliability, fairness, and continuous improvement.
Michaela B. has a knack for standards and insists on compliance with them. As an employee in the Integrated Management Systems (IMS) department, she supports processes in quality management, occupational safety, environmental management, and risk management. The ultimate goal is to obtain the desired certifications for our products: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, EMAS, IATF – to name just a few.
As an IMS manager, she needs to have a good sense of how processes established elsewhere can work for her colleagues in Linz. “Mistakes are helpers—just spelled differently,” she likes to quote, thus bringing people along on the path to compliance. Her job is to translate the texts of the standard language into our process world and make them understandable. What does the new requirement mean? What needs to be done now? After all, the requirements for quality management, occupational safety, environmental and risk management are constantly changing.
In addition to making things understandable, Michaela accompanies her contacts through the implementation processes and then takes on the role of a guide. Along the way, Michaela inspires them to see things from a new perspective and remain open to change. She responds calmly to the desperate looks she sometimes sees on her colleagues’ faces. Michaela smiles broadly: when it comes down to it, everyone knows what to do. Communication is open, agreements are kept, much happens through exchange, and positive developments are brought to the fore.
Michaela brings her strengths to bear in IMS management: accuracy, open-mindedness and openness to new processes, a love of communication, and a good dose of tenacity. She values honesty, respect even in challenging situations, and curiosity about developing new processes in her process colleagues. In her exchanges with IMS colleagues, she also constantly looks beyond the horizon, keeping herself at the cutting edge.
When Michaela opens the refrigerator door at home or drives home in her car, she sometimes thinks briefly about the fact that the materials used to make them were manufactured by our group and are of impeccable quality. It goes without saying that Michaela also reliably complies with standards and regulations in her private life. She has long since introduced her partner and friends to the world of standards and audits and strengthened their understanding of them.
Michaela’s favorite moments are traveling and discovering foreign cultures. She also shows respect for new cultures by learning at least a few phrases in the local language—most recently Japanese, after Chinese. Thorough organization is part of the process for her and increases her anticipation. There are still blank spots on her world map – countries she has not yet visited: Africa, South America, and Australia. With structure, openness, and motivation, she will achieve these goals too – just like audits.
In our new brand and image campaign #FavoriteMoments, we show our contribution to a modern, sustainable life from the perspective of people. We focus on their individual favorite moments and the commitment of our employees that makes such moments possible. The specially composed song “All these moments” accompanies the campaign and musically conveys our values, courage, community and our joy for the future and is authentically accompanied by pictures of our employees.
