Mario Weissenbacher

  • Job title/Position: Electrician
  • Department/Function: TA1 - Electrics/Automation/Plant Construction

I have been working at voestalpine Tubulars for 15 years now. I joined the company through a work colleague. However, I was already familiar with the plant as I had worked on the site several times in my previous job.

  • My job in 3 words:

Challenging | Independent | Fully equipped

I switched to voestalpine Tubulars because in my area I only have the opportunity to work the early shift, which gives me more time for my family and my private life.

 Weissenbacher Mario

My daily work routine

My day usually starts at around 5:50 am. Either the day before or early in the morning, we have a short morning meeting to discuss the work schedule. I mainly work in the main workshop in distribution board construction and I am responsible for the recurring inspections of the electrical systems and machines. The distribution boards I build vary from small terminal boxes to 6-meter-long control cabinets. From socket installation and control system conversions to new installations and ongoing optimizations - our team takes care of everything to do with the site's electrics. And if there's a breakdown somewhere, we're on the spot - so we get around a lot throughout the plant.

  • The opportunity to freely design work assignments on a case-by-case basis and to work together towards a common goal, as well as the good working atmosphere between colleagues.

  • Above all, I appreciate the fact that the employees are really appreciated. With us, it's a give and take. For example, I get time off at short notice when I need it - and in return, I'm also willing to stay longer if necessary.

  • The bigger the system and the thicker the cables, the more I like my work.

  • The training program is particularly comprehensive in the technical area. In addition, you can constantly refresh your knowledge in our area - for example with new devices or machines and standards.

  • Of course: all the bonuses and financial support - really great! But everything else, such as the employee event, is also great.

  • See the world and gain experience while you're young. As a family man, my current job is simply the best option there is due to its consistency.

Kristina Ebner

  • Job title/Position: Risk Management, Sustainability & Waste Officer
  • Department/Function: TM- Management Systems

I have been with voestalpine Tubulars since December 2023. It came about by chance. I discovered an advertisement on the website and then applied. After a trial day, during which I was able to get a first impression of the company, my colleagues and my future tasks, I started my job and am currently responsible for risk and sustainability management.

  • My job in 3 words:

Interesting | Varied | Motivating

I really enjoy getting up to go to work - that's because of the great team and the varied work. I've learned a lot since I've been at voestalpine Tubulars.

My daily work routine

My day usually starts at 6 a.m. with the checking of emails. Then there's often a morning meeting with the team over coffee to discuss the work schedule. No two days are the same. At the beginning of the year, for example, there is a strong focus on the life cycle assessments and waste statistics for the new environmental statement. The waste management concept is also an extensive task that comes up every year. Another part of my work is reporting - both to the division and to the relevant authorities. Other topics include emissions trading, general environmental indicators and sustainable energy consumption - to name just a few.

What I particularly appreciate: I am also occasionally out and about on the plant premises and in contact with colleagues. I also take part in external webinars/audits on the topic of the environment. As sustainability is also a politically relevant topic, it is particularly important to stay on the ball in this area.

  • I really like the fact that I can organize my work independently. The teamwork is excellent, not only within my own team, but throughout the entire site.

  • The teamwork - it just fits. I particularly like the open communication at eye level, across all hierarchical levels. And one little thing: but everyone greets each other at the site, no matter where you are on the premises.

  • I couldn't name one point right now that is the best, because I like my job as a whole so much. I couldn't have done better.

  • There is an extensive offer in the training catalog, which can be agreed in the employee interview - and which is usually also implemented. If it suits the job, there is also the option of discussing external training or courses/education with the manager.

  • For me personally, the company health management (BGM) is a real highlight. There are numerous advertised physio courses - my favorite: the yoga course.

  • Just send an unsolicited application - I can really recommend anyone and everyone to join voestalpine Tubulars. The working atmosphere is simply special!

Dominik Handler

  • Job title/Position: Operations assistant hot-rolling mill
  • Department/Function: Seamless tube hot-rolling mill Engineering/Technology

I have been with the company for over two years. Several internships at Kindberg have given me a good overview of the professional fields and career opportunities. In addition, the family tradition - my father and brother also work at the company - helped me to choose a career at voestalpine Tubulars.

  • My job in 3 words:

Versatile | Educational | Exciting

It doesn't feel like work for me - I do what I like to do and work with people I appreciate.

My daily work routine

My day usually starts between 6am and 7am. First, I check the latest emails, then we coordinate the distribution of these emails within the production team. Much of my work involves analysing production anomalies, optimising systems and automating processes.

We have an early meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays. During these meetings, we update each other, discuss the feedback from our colleagues in production, and provide cross-team support for our tasks.

Another important part of my role is processing enquiries from the sales department. The aim here is to determine the correct rolling dimensions, including tolerances, for the desired product dimension. Providing specific rolling parameters is crucial in order to create an optimal joint offer for our customers.

I am also primarily responsible for the production unit of the dissolving rolling mill and surface inspections. The latter is particularly exciting as we are the only seamless tube hot-rolling mill to carry out continuous quality control of the pre-pipe and finished pipe during the rolling process. Problem-solving and process optimisation tasks regularly arise in these areas..

  • The responsibility, the independent work and the open exchange of information with my colleagues.

  • The communication at eye level and the helpfulness that can be felt throughout the company.

  • That I can make a direct impact with optimisations and adjustments in production.

  • voestalpine offers an extensive training catalog. But I particularly appreciate the time and patience with which experienced colleagues explain things to me in detail.

  • As a sports enthusiast, I am particularly pleased about the many internal sporting events - including direct registration and a sporty company goodie.

  • One piece of advice that I received myself and found very helpful: “Take a notebook to the meetings and write down everything that is unclear and have the respective colleague explain it to you afterwards.”

Julia Reiterer

  • Job title/Position: R&D Project controlling
  • Department/Function: RDI

My career at voestalpine Tubulars started with several internships over the summer months. After a compulsory internship and successfully completing my studies, I began working in RDI (Research, Development & Innovation) and I am currently responsible for research and development project controlling.

  • My job in 3 words:

Structured | Networked | Diversified

It's just great to work in such a great team where everyone pulls together. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible to manage so many projects under one roof.

My daily work routine

My day starts with checking my emails between 6:15am and 6:45am. This can take a little longer, particularly at the start of the month, since I am also responsible for month-end closing and hours reports for all employees in the RDI department. I'm also handling the project invoicing and administrative tasks relating to business trips for RDI employees. An important part of my job is multi-project management. I coordinate around 40 projects, keeping an eye on costs and everything else involved. The research grant is submitted once a year, and certain projects receive special funding. Reporting to the management on a monthly basis is also one of my tasks.

  • I like working in such a great team and that I feel really comfortable in our department. What's more, no two days are the same.

  • The fact that we are all on a first-name basis - and, above all, communication at eye level across all levels. We stick together even in difficult times.

  • Apart from the team and the benefits: I think my office is just great!

  • The voestalpine general training catalog offers both technical and commercial training courses. If you talk to your manager and the course suits your job, nothing stands in your way. voestalpine coaching is also a great option.

  • The entire company health management - especially the physiotherapeutic care at the location and the numerous sporting events.

  • You can also ask “stupid” questions - actually, there are no stupid questions! Even questions like: “Where's the best coffee?” are sometimes important.

Antonia Rabl

  • Job title/Position: Project employee
  • Departement/Function: RDI / Surface technology

I have been with the voestalpine Group for several years. I started at voestalpine Wire Austria in Fürstenfeld. After my maternity leave, I was able to reorient myself professionally and then took up an offer from voestalpine Tubulars. I have been working in the Research, Development & Innovation department as a project employee since August 2024.

  • My job in 3 words:

Varied | Challenging | Exciting

Especially as a young mom, I think it's great that I have such a high degree of flexibility. I also get a lot of support from my colleagues, not only professionally but also personally.

Rabl Antonia

My daily work routine

My working day traditionally starts with a coffee and checking the latest emails at the same time. Once tests have been carried out in our test center, I evaluate them and prepare an analysis of the results. These are then discussed in a larger group if necessary. If time permits, I am also happy to accompany the tests myself. There is always a lot to do and as I work part-time, time often flies by.

  • I particularly appreciate the mix of technical excellence and teamwork with my colleagues. Our products stand for the highest quality - and it motivates me even more that all my colleagues work so passionately on them.

  • Strong togetherness! It's not just about the work, but also about supporting each other, achieving successes together and celebrating them together. I come from a company with 60 people, where it was very familial - and although we are over 1,200 employees here, it feels the same.

  • That every day is a little different and always exciting.

  • There are many internal training courses in various areas as well as all specialist further training courses in technology and business. There are also development opportunities throughout voestalpine - for example, the opportunity to move from one division to another if the conditions are right.

  • The gym is a real highlight. I wouldn't know if it exists in this form anywhere else.

  • The move to Kindberg was absolutely the right decision. The slightly longer drive to work is worth it - I was welcomed into a great team with open arms.

Michael Zucker

  • Job title/Position: Area Manager OCTG – Middle East & South America
  • Department/Function: KV / KV3

I have been with the company since August 2017. I applied for a job as a sales employee via a job advertisement and was able to start my career at voestalpine Tubulars after going through the application process. I am currently working as Area Manager for the product segment "Oil Country Tubular Goods", where i am responsible for the Middle East & South America regions.

  • My job in 3 words:

International | Political | Responsible

As a salesperson, we see ourselves externally as the face to the customer and internally as the coordinator for a wide range of company processes such as logistics, quality and finance.

Zucker Michael

My daily work routine

I'm normally at the company from 6:45 am and in summer I also like to come by bike. On Mondays, the whole of the previous day is worked through, as people in the Middle East work on Sundays. The days are then packed with meetings, dealing with customer inquiries and general customer support. In day-to-day business, customer requirements are addressed, quotations are calculated and orders are released for production. Close coordination with the technology and quality departments is one of our daily tasks.

  • What I really like is the variety between field and office work. You don't just spend time in the office, you get to travel all over the world.

Global developments and political decisions have an immediate impact on my job, so I always have my finger on the pulse.

  • The cooperation across all areas of the company is unparalleled - especially when I compare this with statements from my private environment. There is a real team spirit. Strategies and solutions are developed jointly across all levels, and each individual shares responsibility. We all pull together.

  • The voestalpine training catalog offers a very broad spectrum of technical and business training opportunities. But the value program as management training is also very strong in terms of quality - it was a real highlight for me personally.

  • The brand new gym! As a young father, it's great that I can combine work and sport. When I get home from work, the sporting part is already done and I can devote myself fully to my family.

  • Too high demands during the job search can often lead to a blockade. It is important to gain a foothold in an area that you enjoy. Over time, you can prove yourself and develop further. Success comes when fate has planned it for you.
