With its investments, international presence and clear focus on sustainability, the plant in Llodio is strengthening its strategic role within the voestalpine Railway Systems Group.

voestalpine Railway Systems JEZ is marking its 100th anniversary and looks back on a close connection between industrial development, technological innovation and the transformation of the railway sector. Founded in 1926, the company has developed through several strategic milestones – including its integration into the voestalpine Railway Systems Group, part of the leading steel and technology group voestalpine – to become an international benchmark for highly specialized railway infrastructure solutions.

With 228 employees, including 36 women, the Llodio site is consolidating its role as a central component of voestalpine Railway Systems. Current investments in production capacity and infrastructure are strengthening competitiveness and enabling further growth.

The plant also supplies key components for the global railway infrastructure and is involved in projects across Europe, America, Africa and the Middle East. In doing so, it makes a significant contribution to the safety and efficiency of modern transport networks.

100 years of tradition celebrated in style

The event marking the 100th anniversary was attended by the Basque President Imanol Pradales, the Deputy General of Álava, Ramiro González Vicente, the Basque Government’s Minister for Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability, Mikel Jauregi, and the Mayor of Llodio, Ainize Gastaka Martínez, to celebrate the history of one of the region’s most traditional industrial companies.
