After 2019, the world's leading trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment took place again this year: With 3,000 international exhibitors from 58 countries on more than 600,000 m2, it was bigger and better than ever before.

Only recently, the 33rd World's Leading Trade Fair for Construction Machinery took place in Munich. From 24 to 30 October, around 500,000 visitors gained a forward-looking overview of the most promising innovations in the industry. Of course, the voestalpine Steel Division was also represented together with the voestalpine subsidiaries Krems, Sadef and Profilafroid.

This time, everything was under the sign of digitalisation and sustainability - from the design of the exhibition stands to the most frequently asked questions of the visitors and the guiding themes of the trade fair. The latter were explained in more detail in numerous lectures, presentations and panel discussions by industry, science and start-ups and presented in five thematic areas:

  • Construction methods and materials of tomorrow
  • The path to autonomous machines
  • Mining: sustainable, efficient, reliable
  • Digital construction site
  • The road to zero emissions

There was also a lot going on at the voestalpine Steel Division stand: under the slogan "Sustainable in every element", product innovations, future technology and even more were presented here - whether CO2 reduction in steel production, exhibits from voestalpine partners or culinary delicacies at the Austrian Night exclusively for selected customers.

All in all, bauma 2022 lived up to its high standards. The many feedbacks from visitors to the voestalpine Steel Division stand also indicate this. Of course, sustainability and digitalisation are also deeply anchored in the philosophy of voestalpine and its subsidiaries, as evidenced by the step-by-step plan for decarbonisation by 2050 and the broad commitment to the environment.

"Despite the clash of dates with Euroblech in Hanover and the Diwali festival (Indian Christmas), as well as the absence of many Asians due to covid, we were able to enjoy a very high visitor frequency. Many quality customer visits took place, everyone enjoyed the personal exchange very much. In addition, contacts were made with some promising new customers. Our trade fair stand and the trendy outfit of the Steel Division received a lot of praise," Arnold Ackerlauer, Sales Manager for Mechanical Engineering at voestalpine Steel & Service Center GmbH, sums up.

After the success of the stand, the anticipation for the next bauma is correspondingly high. High on the voestalpine Steel Division's wish list are even more exhibitors, even more visitors and even more young people who can be won over to the industry in the long term.
