At the end of its useful life, steel returns as a valuable raw material. This is crucial for green steel production, because the switch to electric arc furnaces (EAF) increases the demand for high-quality scrap. But where does it come from—and how does it get into our production efficiently and sustainably?

All four voestalpine divisions are based in Lower Austria and rely on solar energy to manufacture a wide range of steel products for rail, water and aviation, solar power plants, punching and industrial knives, machine components, energy industry components and much more. The largest photovoltaic system at our Austrian sites is currently located in Krems and supplies the production facility with solar power.
