I became aware of group-IT through a friend who had done an apprenticeship here. He told me about his experiences and thus aroused my interest. I then applied for my current position and had the opportunity to get to know my colleagues and the job content during a taster day in my current department. Since January 2022, I have been a permanent part of voestalpine group-IT as a Software Engineer for Assets & License Solutions. Before I started here, I graduated from HTL Perg and then worked for a software company.
During my first time at group-IT, I was trained, processed tickets and programmed in the system. There I also learned to work independently, to solve problems, to work in a team and to participate in large projects. What I like most about my job today is the variety and the constant new challenges. Every development is something new and it never gets boring. My first two own developments (changes to asset classes, export to Command) were real highlights for me. I also really appreciate the good cooperation in the team. We support each other and have a good balance between concentration and fun at work. There are also always team activities outside of working hours.
There are also a lot of benefits at group-IT, such as employee share ownership, the opportunity to work in a home office, good parking facilities and food in the canteen. The communication and cohesion are great, even if you're working from home.
For me, success means being good at what you do. When you take on something and successfully implement it or solve problems. So I can only recommend that others get involved with an employer as big as voestalpine and appreciate the many interesting tasks.
