voestalpine iFIX IS NOW EVEN GREENER WITH THE greentec steel Edition!

iFIX is as simple as it sounds. The smart substructure for photovoltaic modules is a click-on solution for quick and tool-free installation. And now the iFIX system made by voestalpine Automotive Components Schwäbisch Gmünd is made of greentec steel Edition material. You can never be progressive enough when it comes to sustainability.

CONCENTRATED KNOWLEDGE FOR USABILITY AND PERFECTION

voestalpine Automotive Components Schwäbisch Gmünd can boast of more than ten years of experience with PV substructures. iFIX is still quite new on the market and was introduced during the current PV boom, making its market launch a high-precision landing. 2022 was only intended to be the runup phase, but more than 30 MW capacity was installed during the year. The ambitious yet very realistic target is to sell several times that amount in 2023.

MORE ROOF AND MORE PHOTOVOLTAICS, YET FEWER COMPONENTS

The difference between iFIX and systems from other suppliers is that the voestalpine Automotive substructure does not consist of several elements, but of a single deep-drawn component.

"We have succeeded in packing all the functions required for the substructure in a single corrosion-protected steel strip with a high load capacity. The smart click solution makes the assembly process quick and tool-free. This sets us apart from the competition," explains Florian Gerstner, Head of Development in Schwäbisch Gmünd.

GREEN AMBITIONS IN THE voestalpine GROUP

Converting to the use of photovoltaic systems is not only a high priority for our customers. We also take the issue seriously in the voestalpine Steel Division on our own roofs, and we have a lot of them! Six new PV systems were installed at the Linz site  in 2022 alone, and we will continue to install roof-top systems on additional buildings.

"In the Steel Division we find it particularly pleasing that our colleagues in Schwäbisch Gmünd have decided to use the premium quality of the greentec steel Edition in the manufacture of their iFIX elements and thus to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the components. Steel is a major pillar of a more sustainable future," says Thomas Moser, head of energy control and pre-project management at TSK.

LISTEN TO THE CLICK, CLICK, CLICK OF greentec steel ON THE ROOF

Thanks to iFIX substructures, photovoltaic modules with cables and inverters/optimizers are quickly and easily mounted on flat rooftops. iFIX is available for both south  and east-west orientation. All the necessary mounting points have already been integrated. iFIX is ready to assemble and requires no machining or cutting. Logistics and distribution costs have also been minimized.

The innovative component design provides many customer benefits:

  • Less storage space
  • Just the right packing density combined with low weight for reduced transport costs
  • No material waste on the roof thanks to ready-cut individual components
Just a few clicks away from green energy. I really like that a lot! Why make things more complicated when they can be so simple? Our developers have certainly put a lot of effort into this development. Click on https://www.voestalpine.com/ifix/ to learn more about iFIX.
