HEADING TOWARD NET ZERO TOGETHER

The industrial sector is facing one of the most significant transformations in its history. Decarbonization is no longer just a project—it is a prerequisite for future viability. But real change happens through collaboration. For 37 years, Wuppermann and voestalpine have shared a partnership built on exactly that: trust, reliability, and a commitment to moving forward together.

TWO STRATEGIES. ONE DIRECTION.

Over the decades, more than 8 million tons of steel have made their way from voestalpine to Wuppermann. Today, this stability serves as the foundation for the next step: the systematic reduction of CO₂ across the entire value chain. Wuppermann is driving its own transformation with decisive action. A key pillar of this effort is targeted investment, such as the Altmünster tube mill project, which boosts efficiency, modernizes processes, and enables sustainable growth.

Wuppermann’s "Heat-to-Coat" process reduces galvanizing emissions by up to 54%—a figure scientifically verified. With photovoltaic systems at all sites, a 100% recycling target, and the goal of CO₂-neutral production by 2027, sustainability is deeply embedded in their operations. At the same time, voestalpine is reshaping steel production through greentec steel. CO₂-reduced products from the greentec steel Edition are already available today. Starting in 2027, a green-energy-powered electric arc furnace in Linz will significantly slash emissions. The long-term goal: net-zero CO₂ by 2050.

THE COLLABORATIVE STEP

As of 2026, Wuppermann has begun sourcing greentec steel edition products. This means predictable CO₂ reduction, transparent documentation, and industrial scalability. This shared mindset also extends to logistics. For the Altmünster site, the focus is on short, efficient transport routes: deliveries travel via truck directly from Linz to Altmünster for processing. This strengthens regional value creation while lowering the carbon footprint

A prime example is the Upper Austrian value chain: steel from Linz, metal frames in Altmünster, and regional manufacturing of school furniture—used in educational institutions across Austria and several European countries.

THE INDUSTRY OF TOMORROW—HAND IN HAND

Sustainability is not just a competitive advantage for individual companies; it is a shared responsibility. Wuppermann is optimizing processes. voestalpine is transforming steel production. Together, they are creating a value chain that bridges ecological ambition with industrial performance.

Transformation succeeds best where trust meets shared responsibility. That is exactly what has connected Wuppermann and voestalpine for 37 years.
