FEEL GOOD IN GREEN - SWISS BATH SPECIALIST SCHMIDLIN RELIES ON greentec steel

Beginning next year, the long-established Swiss company Wilhelm Schmidlin AG will be using voestalpine premium steel in the greentec steel Edition for its production of bath and shower trays, washbasins and much more. A business partnership between the two companies is not new, but the use of carbon-reduced steel will be.

SWISS MADE: LONG-ESTABLISHED, INNOVATIVE UND CLIMATE-FRIENDLY

Wilhelm Schmidlin founded the first and to this day only steel bathtub factory in Oberarth, Switzerland in 1947. Almost 40 years later, Eduard and Margrit Wullschleger-Schmidlin assumed management of the family business, and the company's fortune has been in the hands of Beat and Urs Wullschleger since 2007.

Innovation and quality have a long tradition at Schmidlin. Investment continues unabated in the Swiss production facility with particular focus on the conservation of resources, energy-efficient production processes, reuse of materials and lifecycle management throughout the entire value chain. This includes supply chains considered when materials are purchased.

GREEN STEEL AND ENAMEL - BONDED FOR LIFE

Nature is highly inventive and is often the perfect source of innovation. Schmidlin uses two natural raw materials in the manufacture of their washbasins, shower surfaces, shower and bathtubs. The qualities of these two materials complement each other perfectly: steel and enamel. Steel made by voestalpine can be used for all Schmidlin products in the greentec steel Edition.

High-quality titanium steel is formed in state-of-the-art production facilities. Enamel is a type of glass. It consists of borax, feldspar, quartz, soda and other raw materials. These materials are melted into enamel frits that serve as the base material for the enamel. Skillfully fused, steel and enamel can create a perfect bond in the form of glazed titanium steel.

HIGH-CLASS, SUSTAINABLE AND DURABLE

Glazed titanium steel is extremely high-quality, robust and durable. And Schmidlin products are recyclable. The company uses a steel that is alloyed with titanium—products characterized by extreme stability and, when combined with enamel, by a durable surface.

HYGIENIC, COLORFAST AND CONDUCTIVE

Enamel itself is an inorganic material. So no bacteria and other pathogens can thrive on it. Schmidlin products retain their original color, are 100% resistant to any light effects and are completely UV-resistant. The smooth surface of enamel reflects light very evenly. Steel conducts heat very well and quickly adopts to the temperature of water and surroundings. This heat is gradually dissipated and slows any cooling of the water.

TOP PRIORITY: VALUABLE CONSERVATION AND PRESERVATION

One of the primary goals at Schmidlin is to further conserve resources and energy for each manufactured product. This is why we also work closely with the Energy Agency of the Swiss Private Sector (EnAW).

The bathtub manufacturer has also been investing for many years in more efficient systems for each investment in order to reduce power consumption. Schmidlin relies on multi-stage heat recovery processes to continuously reduce energy consumption.

FEEL GOOD WITH A GOOD CONSCIENCE - IN A BATHTUB MADE BY SCHMIDLIN

With steel and enamel as raw materials—and now even more with the greentec steel Edition—the company relies on natural, 100 percent recyclable materials that retain their value in the cycle of extraction, production and disposal. Products made of glazed titanium steel last at least a lifetime. Material-related longevity and timeless designs make Schmidlin tubs and other comparable products a timeless purchase. Premium quality with a reduced carbon footprint, now in the greentec steel Edition made by voestalpine, lead to an even higher level of sustainability.

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important for developers and individual customers in construction and interior design. As a company, we have long attached importance to the lifecycle of our material processing and product manufacturing. The use of greentec steel from voestalpine, our long-standing business partner, is an additional big step toward climate neutrality.

As dependable as a Swiss watch—a phrase that most people know. That definitely defines our Swiss customers, at least in terms of environmental awareness and sustainability. Green thumbs up!
