ThermoniteSM (Gaseous Ferritic Nitro-Carburizing) is a unique Nitro-carburizing surface treatment that answers the needs of hot work and cold work tool manufacturers. Thermonite creates a high wear resistance in ferrous alloys, and is suitable for parts requiring high surface hardness, wear and erosion resistance, as well as resistance to atmospheric corrosion. Being a low temperature process, it creates minimal risk of distortion or loss of any vital engineering properties.

Why choose Thermonite?:

  • Provides higher surface hardness
  • Offers a solution to abrasive and erosive wear issues
  • Increased Resistance to thermal fatigue
  • Lower co-efficient of friction, higher lubricity, ability to retain lubricants
  • Increased corrosion resistance

CryothermSM (Nitrogen Cryogenic Treatment) process is a controlled sequence of repeated heating and cooling to cryogenic temperatures, which enhance tool performance in terms of higher fatigue strength, wear resistance hardness and dimensional stability. In this process, optimum properties are attained through a fine balance between the heat treatment process parameters, special tempering cycles and precise control over the cooling operations.

Thermox

Our Thermox process is used to produce a stable thin layer of oxide on the surface of a component through a controlled oxidation process. We also offerThermox II which is a duplex process for even greater surface integrity.

Why choose the Thermox treatment?:
  • Increased corrosion resistance
  • Enhances the metal’s ability to retain lubricants thus reducing wear
  • Increased surface hardness (Thermox II)
  • Attractive surface finish
  • Seals voids in porous materials such as powdered metal parts

Our metallurgical laboratory offers a wide range of inspection, testing and failure analysis services, designed to assist our clients in solving everything from the very simple to the most complex metallurgical issues. Our approach is to detect the root cause of the issue and offer realistic solutions to solve your metallurgical problems.

Our services include:

  • Failure analysis of machined components / tools
  • Metallurgical and materials testing and evaluation
  • Contract based production process failure investigation and problem resolution
  • Surface engineering through coatings and thermal processing
  • Materials selection

Testing Capabilities:

  • Metallographic examination (micro and macrostructure)
  • Fracture surface examination
  • Mechanical testing
  • Hardness testing (Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers)
  • Chemical analysis and material grade verification
  • Case depth analysis, micro-hardness testing

Tool steel welding is often needed for die-casting dies, large forging dies, plastic molding, car body dies and blanking tools – in cases such as a repair or an engineering change, where welding can be done more cost effectively than producing new tooling.

Welding of tooling may be required for any of the following:

  • Refurbishment and repair of cracked or worn tooling
  • Restoration of chipped or worn cutting edges
  • Adjustment of machining errors in tool making
  • Design changes

Our tool steel welding facility offers:

  • Weld joint preparation
  • Pre-heating & post-heating capabilities
  • Annealing capabilities
  • Magnetic particle inspection

We are dedicated to providing Heat Treatment and Metallurgical services that fulfill our customers’ individual needs and certification requirements.

We are certified to ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards, and received Nadcap Accreditation in 2011.

  • Quality Assurance
  • Part submission / Process Approval Documentation
  • Product and Customer Specific Certification
  • Microstructure Exam Reports
  • Detailed Hardness
  • Test Reports, Heat-Charts, Certificates of Compliance
  • Industry Specific Certification
