At the beginning of 2026, the regions of Leiria and Marinha Grande in Portugal were affected by a series of severe natural events. The damage has had a significant impact on infrastructure as well as on the personal situations of many people.
This also affected our site Eschmann Textura Internacional, Lda. in Marinha Grande and, in particular, our employees. Several colleagues have partially or completely lost their homes. Some are still living in temporary accommodation, and in many cases, limited insurance coverage makes the recovery process more challenging.
At the same time, our teams on site have contributed to maintaining and gradually restoring operational activities. Their commitment under these circumstances is noteworthy.
The psychological stability and the appropriate living conditions of our colleagues are important to us. Only this ensures that challenges can be met with the necessary calm, security, and commitment—both in their personal and professional environments. By providing financial support to our colleagues on site, we are therefore taking responsibility and combining this with a clear expression of our appreciation for their exceptional commitment. In doing so, we are strengthening a lasting sense of cohesion within our HPM Division and the voestalpine Group.
Reinhard Nöbauer, Head of the HPM Division.

As being responsible for the Eschmann Textures Group in Europe, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the local management and the HR leadership of the region and the division for their commitment. In this situation, both have made a significant contribution to making the extent of the challenges in Portugal tangible for everyone and to enabling the decision to provide both financial and moral support—recognition of the exceptional personal efforts of the entire team in this critical situation.
Thomas Porstner, Managing Director of the Eschmann Textures companies in Europe.
The recent natural events in Leiria and Marinha Grande have deeply affected our community, and my thoughts and concerns are entirely with our employees and their families during this challenging time. Seeing the resilience of our team at Eschmann Textura Internacional has been truly humbling. Even while facing severe damage to their own homes, many of our colleagues stood on the front lines, showing extraordinary dedication to keep our operations running and support the company. This level of commitment goes far beyond duty; it reflects the true spirit of our team. Our absolute priority is the well-being and stability of our people. As a company and as part of the voestalpine Group, we are fully committed to standing by them, providing the necessary financial and emotional support to help them rebuild. We are stronger together.
Cidália Cordeiro, Managing Director of Eschmann Textura Internacional Lda.
We wish our colleagues in Portugal all the best as they continue to stabilize their situation.
