Automotive components like sealing rings, sensors, and steering parts require BÖHLER steels with high wear, corrosion resistance, and stability. Key quality features include ultra-clean materials, full traceability, controlled heat treatment, and rigorous testing.
Other automotive components such as sealing rings, sensor housings, and steering system elements operate under diverse and demanding conditions, including mechanical loading, friction, temperature fluctuations, and exposure to aggressive media such as oils, fuels, and environmental contaminants. Material requirements are therefore highly application-specific, focusing on wear resistance, corrosion resistance, dimensional stability, and sufficient strength and toughness to guarantee long-term functional reliability. For precision components like sensors, stability of material properties and high surface integrity are essential to ensure accurate performance.
BÖHLER high-performance steels and alloys are specifically developed to meet these varying automotive requirements. Advanced stainless steels, high-strength alloyed steels, and wear-resistant grades provide tailored combinations of corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and durability. Produced using advanced melting and refining technologies, BÖHLER materials ensure exceptional cleanliness, low inclusion content, and homogeneous microstructures, supporting consistent performance even in critical applications. Key quality features include strict chemical composition control, certified material traceability, and precisely controlled heat treatment processes to achieve defined properties. Comprehensive testing, including wear, corrosion, and non-destructive inspection, ensures compliance with automotive standards. BÖHLER materials enable reliable, durable, and high-precision solutions across a wide range of automotive components.
BÖHLER L625 AMPO is a non-magnetic, corrosion and scale-resistant nickel-base alloy. High toughness and strength from the lowest temperatures up to 1000 °C. Good printability.
Read MoreThe BÖHLER L718 AMPO is a hardenable nickel-base super alloy. This high heat-resistant material shows good strength properties at elevated temperatures up to 750 ° C, as well as excellent creep resistance up to 700 ° C. In addition, it shows excellent corrosion resistance and good printability. Essentially, the same properties can be achieved with printed components made from this powder as with bar material.

Read MoreBÖHLER N700 is a martensitic, corrosion-resistant, precipitation-hardenable chromium-nickel-copper steel with high strength and toughness. Further increases in strength can be achieved by cold forming and subsequent precipitation hardening. These products are typically used for parts that require higher corrosion resistance than the usual 13% or 17% chromium steels and high strength. Various remelting processes are used to improve steel purity and homogeneity. (ESR, PESR, VAR). Certain processing methods and operating conditions can make these products susceptible to stress corrosion cracking. For applications such as bolting where stress corrosion cracking is possible, the product should be aged for at least 4 hours at the highest temperature compatible with the strength requirements, but in no case lower than 552 °C. Typical engineering applications include surgical and dental instruments as well as aerospace components, reactor construction, highly stressed pump parts, springs and ship shafts.

With a well-balanced alloy position and cobalt content, this type always manages to get the job done. Cobalt-alloyed molybdenum high-speed steel with high hardness, excellent cutting properties, outstanding compressive strength, high hot hardness, and good toughness.

It is an austenitic, precipitation hardenable, iron-nickel-chromium-molydenum-titanium steel of ESR quality. Alloying elements of aluminium and titanium allow this material to undergo precipitation hardening (ageing) through the formation of intermetallic phases. The addition of molybdenum increases the mechanical properties and resistance to creep at high temperatures. These products have been typically used for parts in power generation engineering i.e. gas turbines requiring moderate strength up to 704 °C (1300 °F) and oxidation resistance up to 816 °C (1500 °F), but their use is not limited to such applications.”
