WELCOME TO THE AUTOMOTIVE academy BUNSCHOTEN (AAB)

Thank you for your interest in our academy. At our academy we offer technical education both at intermediate level (MBO) as at higher educational level (HBO). Our students receive individual guidance, a lot of practice-oriented education and possibilities to innovate. Students with a completed VMBO, HAVO or MBO education are welcome at our academy. Our programs are also open for everyone who is interested in personal technical development in any moment of his/her career.

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL (MBO) AND HIGHER EDUCATIONAL LEVEL (HBO)

Within our academy there are 4 possible tracks that result in an officially recognized diploma. During the course of the program you choose the specialization that suits you best.

Which track do you choose?

TOOLMAKER | MBO level 3

As a toolmaker you contribute to the start of the production process. Together with your colleagues you build so-called stamps.

These stamps determine the shape of the parts that eventually become the doors, hoods and sidewalls of cars or trucks. They are used in giant presses to form pieces of steel for example a door. As a toolmaker you do not only make new stamps for the latest car models. You also adapt stamps for spare parts of existing models. You learn to work very precisely, sometimes with an accuracy of 0.01 mm.

Duration:
3 years (acceleration is possible)

Requirements:

  • VMBO diploma (‘kader’, mixed or ‘theoretisch’);
  • HAVO diploma or HAVO 4 transition certificate;
  • a comparable (technical) education.

MECHANIC SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE | MBO level 3 and MBO level 4

As a service and maintenance technician, you can be deployed at any place in the production process. You will help maintaining all kinds of robot installations and you will help resolve different types of malfunctions of the entire machine park at voestalpine.

MBO 3 level 3

As a service and maintenance technician, you can be deployed at any place in the production process. You will help maintaining all kinds of robot installations and you will help resolve different types of malfunctions of the entire machine park at voestalpine.

You work closely together with your colleagues to investigate and solve a malfunction. During the program you choose your own specialism: mechanical or electrical.

Duration:
3 years (acceleration is possible)

Requirements:

  • VMBO diploma (‘kader’, mixed or ‘theoretisch’);
  • HAVO diploma or HAVO 4 transition certificate.

MBO 4

This track is a follow-up for the service and maintenance technician, MBO level 3. It is a continuation of the knowledge you have gained during the MBO level 3 track. Working with a level 4 diploma, you will get more responsibility and you also learn to manage other people. Your role is to contribute to the optimization of production processes. From design to actual production. As a result, it becomes more stable and the quality of the end product improves. If the process is completely to your liking, the robot cell will be transferred to the production departments with its own maintenance department.

Duration:
2 years (acceleration possible)

Admission Requirements:

  • (technical) MBO diploma, level 3;
  • a comparable (technical) previous education

INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION AND ROBOTICS | HBO

During this track we train you in a special program to become a robot programmer.

More information

During this track we train you in a special program to become a robot programmer. Working as a robot programmer, you think in advance which actions the robot should perform, such as welding or picking up a part. You will be using a software program to define which actions the robot must perform. A frequently used program is RobotStudio, increasingly in combination with Virtual Reality. At the academy you work together with engineers in the Skillslab Robotics on testing tooling for robots and optimizing the product flow of new body parts to be produced. This gives you an important role in implementing existing and new production processes. In addition, you will be offered all kinds of training courses related to industrial automation and working with robots and their control (PLC) in particular.
Once the program is finished and you have received your diploma you can start working at the engineering department as a programmer or at one of the production departments. Because our production processes are quite complex, there is a lot of demand for good engineers. The nice thing about this work is that you usually see immediate results of your work.

Duration:
2 years

Requirements

  • completed, relevant technical MBO diploma, level 4
  • completed HAVO diploma
  • completed VWO diploma

TECHNICAL TRAINING

The Automotive academy Bunschoten has more than 70 years of experience in training its own employees. We are happy to share this knowledge and experience with other companies and with schools.

COMPANIES

We offer various technical training courses for employees of other companies such as industrial robotics, automation, electrical engineering and various welding processes.

Characteristics of our training courses are:

  • short lead time, maximum 2-3 days;
  • modular construction, different combinations of modules possible;
  • many practical assignments;
  • online learning environment;
  • guidance by experienced specialists;
  • small groups or on individual basis.

OVERVIEW OF TECHNICAL TRAINING POSSIBILITIES

SCHOOLS

For schools we offer the possibility to follow technical training modules, elective courses or elective modules. Practical assignments are available for universities of applied sciences on technical subjects. A balanced program and quality is guaranteed. Several schools are already making use of these possibilities.

EDUCATION TOOLMAKER

The Toolmaker track is the only one of its kind in the Netherlands. This education is not available anywhere else. Companies now have the option of offering this highly specialized track to their employees. The student will attend the technical part of the education at the Automotive academy Bunschoten. The practical part and the internships are carried out by the employee within his own company.
