Our material comes back home! Using colofer® PLUS 50 in the greentec steel edition, longtime voestalpine customer DOMICO is manufacturing facade profiles for the newly built Company Building 53 at voestalpine in Linz. The sustainable material enhances a building that is in itself the heart of our transformation. This is how we live sustainability at voestalpine.
PARTNERSHIP THAT BEARS GREEN FRUIT
We have been working with DOMICO since 1989 in a large number of projects that share a common high standard of quality. DOMICO is installing its Planum® facade system, made in Austria, on Company Building 53. Eighteen tons of colofer from the greentec steel Edition are being installed, amounting to a total savings of four tons of CO2. This makes sustainability visible, panel by panel.
colofer® stands for robust, high-precision-coated steel strip with elegance and longevity that perfectly complement the building's wood hybrid structure.
COMPANY BUILDING 53, A SUSTAINABLE HUB FOR THE EAF ROUTE
Company Building 53 will bundle central plant production technologies and function as the support hub for the slab and EAF production systems. This means shorter distances, more efficient processes and significantly improved teamwork.
Delta Pods Architects are responsible for the design and general planning of the new company building, with a clear focus on integrating sustainable aspects directly into the architecture. This becomes apparent in the wood hybrid structure, optimized building technology with top energy efficiency, intelligent electrical technology, a green roof with a PV infrastructure, vertical construction instead of using new land space and resource-saving interior surfaces.
The surface area is substantial: 1030 square meters of Planum® facade made of colofer® in the greentec steel Edition. In terms of design, three metallic color shades play with light and depth and tell a metaphorical story of steel processing, from the crude material to the refined surfaces of steel.
In combination with the warm wood structure, this creates a bridge between nature and technology that is durable, circular and an architectural statement that lauds greentec steel.
When sustainable material becomes the literal image of our transformation, our overall message of sustainability comes full circle, and colofer becomes a shining example of our greentec steel.
