EAGERLY AWAITED: PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS FOR GREEN ELECTRICITY

Our decisions today determine what tomorrow’s world will be: We made an important decision to install new photovoltaic systems on our company buildings at the Linz site. This is because the internal production of sustainable electricity forms the foundation that is essential to achieving one of our highest objectives: Green steel for a better future.

A SUSTAINABLY SENSIBLE ROOF OVER YOUR HEAD

PV systems are currently being installed on the roofs of five buildings: Our shape cutting center, an office complex, the Automotive Components lines and two of our buildings in the Industriezeile of Linz will form the structural foundation for environmentally friendly solar power. Steel itself is once again part of the solution for the photovoltaic system support stands, which are produced in the voestalpine Metal Forming Division and are equipped with PV modules from a third-party supplier.

HIGH-PRECISION DESIGN FOR GREEN ENERGY SUPPLY

The PV systems will be completed in one to two years, and this is only the beginning because photovoltaic systems will continue to be installed on our roofs well into the future. At the end of the construction phases, we expect to achieve approximately 1300 kWp (kilowatt peaks) by the end of the current business year.

ELECTRIFYING AND INNOVATIVE POWER FOR GREEN STEEL PRODUCTION

The new photovoltaic systems provide the respective buildings with electricity, and surplus power is fed into the voestalpine electrical supply network. This means that 100% of the produced electrical energy is consumed at the Linz site, and not a single kilowatt hour is wasted. The two Industriezeile buildings near the Danube river port feed their surplus green electricity into the Austrian power grid.

WATT can we say? We are AMPED for the new solar panel systems! Like I always say, it never HERTZ to think green!
