Program - Electrical Steel Day, April 15th 2021

13.00: Welcome

Our host will give a short overview on the agenda.

13.15: Electrical Steel - Buying “The Special One” in the flat carbon steel world. Part 1

Target group
Both experienced and unexperienced NGOES buyers, project managers, and people who are interested in electrical steel.

Description

We show why NGOES is different to other flat carbon steel products and what it means for market and product handling. Many people interested in NGOES nowadays find their roots in components purchasing and are sometimes surprised when getting in touch with the steel world and the heavy industries. We try to give an overview about the „what & why“.
The 2 parts complement one another. Part1 focuses more on market / material / technology, Part 2 more on buying aspects like pricing, logistic and mill service.

13.45: Daily business with Electrical Steel - Buying “The Special One” in the flat carbon steel world. Part 2

 Enjoy a cup of coffee

14.30: Material selection – Which electrical steel suits you best

Target group
Both experienced and unexperienced engineers, project managers, and people who are interested in electrical steel.

Description
Electrical steel is the core of your e-motors. More than 100 electric steel grades offer so many possibilities. But how to navigate through the jungle of properties? This sessions shows the different properties that help you design the motor. What do you need to look for and when would you like to use a standard and when a customized grade. The appropriate steel grade for your use is at the center of this session.

15.00: Full faced selfbonding varnish -  Backlack Academy for Beginners

Target group
Both NGOES buyers with technical expertise and engineers, project managers, and people who are interested in full faced self bonding technology.

Description
More and more enquiries include specifications with backlack coating, maybe the king of high quality joining solutions. Driven by thinner thicknesses, but also more demanding material properties and particularly by the possibility for serial processes, the self bonding technology is on many designers’ tables. We would like to give an understanding what this joining technology is about, the difference to other technologies and we address some of the topics that must urgently be considered in the engineering and projecting phase.

15.30: Reduction of CO2 Emissions and its impact on steel-products and business models

Target group
NGOES Buyers, project managers, CSR managers, people interested in NGOES and sustainability

Description
Climate protection is one of the key drivers of developments in the steel industry. During this session we will tell you more about the positioning of voestalpine with regard to sustainability as well as previous and current efforts and successes in sustainability and decarbonization. voestalpine is already working at full speed on the development of technical scenarios to further advance decarbonization of the steel production process. We will also provide you with an overview of our green future and the possibilities of producing CO2-neutral steel. Finally, these developments lead to new business and pricing models.
