A project with character

Office Building 53 is part of the transformation at voestalpine. As the central point in plant technology for slab production and the EAF production route, the innovative building creates short distances and efficient processes, making sustainable construction visible. The Planum® facade made by DOMICO was achieved with colofer® PLUS 50 in the greentec steel Edition: 18 tons of material prevent the emission of roughly 4 tons of CO₂. A total of 1030 square meters of innovative facades cover the hybrid building. Three metallic tones play with light and depth and tell a story of steel design from the raw material to refined surface surfaces in colofer® PLUS 50.

  • Design: three metallic shades as a bridge between tradition and innovation

voestalpine Company Building 53: A future-oriented hybrid design planned by DELTA in collaboration with Delta Pods Architects

Company Building 53 at voestalpine sets new standards in sustainable industrial buildings of the next generation. Together with voestalpine Standort Service, the DELTA Group completed the project. Delta was the general planner and was responsible for the architecture, planning as well as cost and schedule management. The project was completed in the fall of 2025. The new building was built in hybrid design and saves 132 tons of CO₂, a clear sign of climate-conscious industrial design. Company Building 53 comprises two flexible office floors with a spacious central zone and another floor with modern changing rooms for workers. The facade of Building 53 is a striking example of the interplay between material and technical precision and ecological standards. The design was developed by Tobias Ziegelmeyer (Lead Architect in Wels, Delta Pods Architects), who also planned the technical implementation together with the experts from voestalpine Stahl GmbH, Coil Business Unit.

This colofer® facade symbolizes a bridge between tradition and innovation. The facade becomes the expression of a building that is rooted both in the present and intended for the future. The design was inspired by light reflection, material depth and the interplay of surfaces similar to those of overlapping metal panels or the faceted surfaces of technical objects.

Long service life

The durable outer shell of the building provides excellent color and weather resistance for facades that are ideal for large spans and sandwich panels. Serial maturity for roll forming, punching, edging and bending with an unchanging finish.

The colofer® PLUS 50 product is chromate-free and part of the greentec steel Edition with a reduced carbon footprint.

Design meets function with Planum®

Steel is the perfect material in the Planum® facade made by DOMICO: Metallic tones vary as they depend on light and angle of view. With the warm structure of the building, they form accents and long-lasting identity. This is a reflection of every effort taken to visibly combine tradition and innovation in architecture.

Included in the greentec steel Edition

The greentec steel program of voestalpine pursues a clear step-by-step plan: Beginning in 2027, electric arc furnaces will be put into operation, one in Linz and one in Donawitz. They will produce roughly 2.5 million tons of CO₂-reduced steel each year and will reduce emissions by around 30% by 2029, nearly 5% of the total emissions in Austria. Company Building 53 stands for efficient collaboration as well as a consistent path toward the production of more climate-friendly steel that can be coated with colofer®.
