Construction works for the 90 km long high-speed line officially opened for service in September 2009 started already in March 2000. The scope of supply of voestalpine BWG comprised 26 turnouts for vmax 300/170 km/h including elastic base plates and Rheda 2000® sleepers as well as 4 rail expansion joints. Consulting, supervision during pre-assembly, logistics and installation as well as inspection and maintenance within the scope of the commissioning belonged to the scope of services.
This was the first line for which the certification on the interoperability of the trans-European high-speed rail system was required. A task mastered by voestalpine BWG as one of the first turnout manufacturers by obtaining TSI certification for the high-speed turnouts according to the council directive 96/48/EC.
